Round 13 Captain

Back by popular demand :D

Last week our 3 most popular picks were -
Cox (30%) - 114 v Ade
Ablett (23%) - 139 v North
Pendles (20%) - 129 v Melb

Still undecided myself but gee Buddy v Gold Coast is tempting :D

Re: Round 13 Captain

This is awkward :p

Since your poll is better than mine, I'll just move my post here. I'll add some of the ones you have in your poll to my table too when I get time.

Avg5 - Average last 5 games against opp.
Avg3 - Average last 3 games against opp.

What a fun week to try and decide who we entrust with the very important role as our SC captain.

A bye for Collingwood, sees two of our favourites, Pendlebury and Swan sitting it out on the sidelines (or shopping trolleys in Arizona).

Selwood decided to give Guerra a good old whack in the head behind play, which is all and good, but now he's out for 3 weeks, and over 25% of the SC world weigh up whether he stays or goes. Selwood showed no respect to SC coaches as well, deciding to get suspended during a week where we're already down the Pies players.

Mundy suffered a broken fibula over in the West, and will be out for 6-8 weeks, throwing up another challenge for SC coaches.

Ablett over the last few weeks has been brilliant, and those who put the captaincy on him have been well rewarded. Could we see him return as another perma-captain? Has a good record against the Hawks too, averaging 124 over the last 5, even with a 79 in his last match-up against them.

Few tough match-ups for some of our favourites, with Judd and Murphy coming up against the point-stingy Swans, though both boast decent averages against them. Goodes however, averages 85 against the Blues. Jimmy Bartel averages 120 against the Saints, but without Selwood or Ablett around him this time, you'd think he'd face a lot more attention.

Boyd plays the currently hapless Crows, but his record against them isn't so flash, but he is having a very good season, and the way the Crows are going, it could very well continue.

Pavlich against Melbourne (especially now with Mundy going down) could be a good choice, considering his time in the midfield won't be reduced too much you wouldn't think, even with Mundy back.

Cox has scored relatively well against Port in recent times, with his only real poor score coming early last year. However he did start forward in that match, and was very underdone. This season he looks on the ball, and could score big over at Pattinson's Stadium.

Smokey could be Jack Riewoldt against the Lions, without Merrett in the backline, he'll probably come up against Goose Maguire, and give him a bath. However he didn't really look quite right against the Swans I thought.

Also can't forget about Buddy up against GC, but could Clarkson rest him, considering his calf may not be 100%?

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Re: Round 13 Captain

Boyd's below average history against the Crows should be canceled out by the fact he absolutely loves Etihad.

Apart from his round 1 shocker where he scored in the 70's, he's gone 129, 131, 123, 128, and 164. Against an out of form Adelaide, he could be quite a good 'semi unique' pick.

Re: Round 13 Captain

Well this could be interesting
GOLD Coast could hand the job of stopping Lance Franklin to an 18-year-old with five games under his belt.

Suns assistant coach Dean Solomon flagged the possibility of sending youngster Tom Lynch to the rampaging Franklin, who leads the Coleman Medal race with 39 goals this season.

At 199cm, Lynch has Franklin (196cm) covered for height but is giving up 11kg and 125 games' worth of experience.

Re: Round 13 Captain

Sounds good to me :thumbsu:

He has been playing well but if he can stop giving away frees he would score 20 or 30 pts extra each week. Against a young GC team that looks to be starting to tire anything is possible.

Judd, let me down as (C) two weeks ago
Selwood, gone for a month
Cox, should score well against Port
Pav, inoconsistant this year
Goddard, WTF
Riewoldt, both Jack and Nick have had poor scoring seasons thus far
Pendles & Swan bye
Boyd, thinking of bringing in for Selwood

Nah, I am going for buddy
