I hadn't realise this had started but it is on ONE every night and started last night. Aussie boys wound back the clock winning the 4x100m relay in an upset.

Australia
James Magnussen (47.49)
Matt Targett (47.87)
Matthew Abood (47.92)
Eamon Sullivan (47.72) 3:11.00

France
Alain Bernard (48.75)
Jérémy Stravius (47.78)
William Meynard (47.39)
Fabien Gilot (47.22) 3:11.14

United States
Michael Phelps (48.08)
Garrett Weber-Gale (48.33)
Jason Lezak (48.15)
Nathan Adrian (47.40) 3:11.96

Magnussen's time is stunning, the fastest of all time outside of the polyurethane suit era.

^ She's 15.

Seebohm finished 4th tonight, and if there had been another 5 metres, she might've won, that's how close it was.
Very unlucky for the annoying one, just 0.16 off gold but didn't medal.

What's happened to Bernard since Beijing (I was away during the Rome World Championships)? Seems to have really dropped off the pace.
alain bernard i assume that means? was injured after the olympics and has not come back to form since, other french boys seem to be flying - seems the french chemists have upgraded there skills
PS - watch for ceaser tonight, he is a flying machine and if nerves get the better of James (pray they won't) then 8-1 Ceasar could be the man, proud of one hd for showing it live - awesome move!:thumbsu:

Thanks for that.

Whole thing should be live.

Also Hudson and Livingstone are calling it from Melbourne.

Looking forward to Warren and Nine calling the Games next year.

Great race between Lochte and Phelps in the IM last night. Lochte breaking the first WR post-supersuit era. Amazing to think 43 WRs fell in eight days in Rome 2009.

Somehow I have a feeling Phelps will train the house down in the twelve months until London and retire with 20 Olympic gold or similar.

Also seems a lot of our talent that I expected to come on over the past four years has never really hit the mark. Seebohm, Campbell (injured?), Monk, Sprenger and so on. Usually I've expected four to six years at the top from the elite swimmers but the current generation haven't really brought home the same spoils we've been used to. Of course, the swimming of other nations has really come on in that time.

Our swimming here in Australia is still very strong, it is just as you say, a lot of other nations have gained ground.

I can't see Phelps retiring after the next Olympics, he'll go when he knows he can't keep up with the current generation anymore.

We still have guys like Rickard, Sullivan, Huegill, Magnussen, Rice, Jones etc who are all very much world class swimmers and are capable of winning gold at major events (as Magnussen did last night in the premier event; great call by Huddo btw). There are also plenty coming through in the junior ranks, we are fine.

The Lochte and Phelps race was amazing, Lochte stormed home in that freestyle leg, fantastic to watch.

Having a quick look at the medley relay chances. Taken the best time from the individual races from the semi and final times. Some swimmers had quicker times in the semi which I took. Obviously Japan can't have the same bloke swimming two legs but Fujii was their only entrant in the 100m freestyle but he came fifth in the fly.
