He's better than Armstrong ever was IMO.

Hams is better than Nicoski, McGinnity, Bones plus a few others.

Good kick, hard at it, can kick a goal and tackle. Has a bit of of mongrel in him which we need more of.

Hams is great. One of the few players on our list that could shake off/absorb a tackle and dish the ball off or kick a goal. Always dangerous, there was not many on our team that you felt could break a tackle and kick a goal, he was one of the only players who could.
I think Geelong round 22 was close to our best team for the year, and he was one of the better players in that team.

If Hams was on the main list he would definitely be in the 22 unless someone can surpass him in the forward pocket role.

I dont understand the hate for Hams.

He played the small forward role better than anyone else we had (not counting Lecras as he is more of a mid size forward).

He was one of our best against Geelong in Rd 22.

Look , Hams is a goer and I would never subscribe to hating any WCE player........Some are better than others though.

LeCras, Strijk and one of the mids are vying for forward rolls now that Kerr is back.

Hams was great against Geelong............wish he had more team mates following his lead.

If Le Cras is to play more in the midfield next season we will need players to play in the forward pocket. I would much rather see Hams and Strijk given the oppotunity (along with Broome and Weedon) than have the Eagles try to convert a midfielder such as Masten into a forward pocket player.

LeCras, Strijk and one of the mids are vying for forward rolls now that Kerr is back.

We had Hams, Strijk and LeCras all player forward of centre roles late in the season and Shuey spent a few minutes of the flank as well, the question is what Midfielder is going forward and why?

Nobody is throwing names like Priddis or A.Selwood who IMO will quickly be displaced if we are going to take this list in any meaningful direction.

Wilson and Stevenson had to be upgraded because they were already on the rookie list for 3 years. Strijk was another peformer who got the nod. If we had upgraded a 4th person then we could of only took 2 players in the ND. Hams would know that he would be upgraded at a later date.

Each club has to have a minimum of 3 picks in the draft as well, so there was no room to upgrade Hams. We would have had to have cut Nicoski or someone similar to make the room space, and given the alleged cap problems it wasn't going to happen. In hindsight giving Lynch a one year deal may have been the problem given the amount of talls we ended up drafting and could have been our list space right there

Massive overate of the WCE midfield 2010.

I'm hoping, thats hope, Le Cras can develop the motor to be a regular midfielder, & we need Masten to step up too.
Kids that are yet to strut their stuff will make little, if any, difference to our midfield rotation, read Weedon & Broome.
If Le Cras makes it, if Kerr gets a good run with injury, if Ebert takes the next step .... IF !!!

I expect to see LeCras play both deep forward and as a high half forward/ wingman. If he does spend more time then we might see Weedon, Neates given a change along side Strijk and Ashton Hams.

Personally i think Strijk is potentially a far better centre square option than a LeCras but if we have the luxury of moving these guys around throughout a game we should.

That's our best 22 in my opinion. Can't put Darling or Gaff in there yet. Didn't nominate a sub.

Embley, Brett Jones and Adam Selwood will probably start Round 1 though, but I'd prefer this team.

Close- Schofield (Could edge Brown or Butler out), Smith (Really wanted to put him in but couldn't fit it), Stevens, Stevenson, Gaff, Darling, Dalziell

I posted that in November. With Hams not able to be played in the regular season without an LTI, I would move Smith to the HBF, Strijk to the pocket and Sheppard to the HFF. That's close to our best 22, maybe with Gaff tearing it up he could take a spot on the wing, with Ebert on the bench in place of Swift.

Just what I was told last night. Its a pretty flimsy source (friend who knows board member type thing) but apparantly you will be able to see it in training in the coming months.

You make it sound like they are Priddis-like in pace. Both have decent pace. More importantly, Butler's reading of the play means that he rarely gets beaten on the leads (last season was a good example of this) and he is actually a pretty good spoiler as well. sTeeL covered the Waters' bit.

In regards to Waters being in the back pocket, that was based from Embers' saying that Waters would take the third tall forward and so Hurn and Sheppard would be our two main rebounders setting up attacks.
