Saw him put in one of the most pathetic biased umpring efforts in the magoos one day.

Can't have many fans out there.

Well done to West yesterday on there win over Grovey.. Was great to see a lot of Grovey people stay around for a beer after the game as West are probably the best club for coming in for a drink when they play up at Burdoo. Was also good to see a few of your supporters come up and socialise at our reverse raffle today. Good luck for the future boys.

Cheers mate.

Was good to get another win on the board after some of the recent results.

Not sure if its part of the clubs policy to encourage players to go in and socialise with the other team but as a playing group they seem like a good bunch of lads regardless.

It has always been unwritten club policy to mingle in social rooms for at least one drink before leaving the venue. Nothing smacks more of rudeness and arrogance for club's that don't and unfortunately it's all too common.

My tip is for South Barwon to be premiers judging by their win over BP on Sat. Joeys certainly look a threat this year.
joeys no threat this year. bellpark with a fully fit side will be hard to beat. they had 8 first team regulars out against sth barwon

How sweet it was to see the Dragons beat Joeys yesterday. Hopefully South Barwon wont repeat their performance in round 16.

Any truth to the rumour St Mary's have spoken with a certain BFL coach? I know that Tigers have parted ways with Luke Rayner. Could it be a side still alive?

Didnt happen, the Bell Park vs South Barwon game was Incredible , really tough hard footy, can not believe there was only 2 goals kicked for the second half, once the rain came both backlines really got on top. It is hard to see Joeys beating Sth Barwon this week.

Yes it was a tough game not helped much by the rain.South Barwon need to really play well this week if we want to keep Joeys out of the grand final.Heres hoping Joeys are flattened this week.

Any details about the bloke?
From the Geelong Advertiser

A GLOWING endorsement from North Melbourne football chief Donald McDonald has led to Lara appointing Werribee VFL assistant Matt Kershaw as its new senior coach.
Kershaw, a former Lara great who played in the Cats' 1994 senior flag, was unveiled to the club's playing group last night on a two-year deal.
He replaces outgoing playing-coach Ben Harris, who resigned late in the season despite having one year to serve on his contract.
"Matt is very mindful of bringing the juniors on and he is going to put a lot of effort into a development-type squad for our juniors," Lara president Brendan McAuliffe said of Kershaw's appointment.
"We spoke to Donald McDonald and he gave a glowing reference to Matt and his other coaches up at Werribee also gave him a glowing reference that he was ready to take the next big step."
Kershaw, who still remained a keen follower of the club while at Werribee, was one of four candidates officially interviewed for the role.

The former goal kicking machine will be a non-playing coach. Kershaw played 120 games for Lara and took out the GFL's leading goal kicking award in 1995.
His coaching CV also includes some previous assistant work at both Lara and Bacchus Marsh, as well as being Barwon Heads' senior coach in 2006-07.
He has been at Werribee as a forward coach for the past two seasons.
Lara finished 10th this season with four wins after reaching the finals last year.

Can we expect any Werribee listed players to follow? Will Lara get caught up in a big recruiting spree, or will they stick to their guns with junior development? Spent a lot of money since 2003, and haven't been close since.

How have they spent a lot of money since 2003 Dickens? They lost the likes of Paul Lynch, Cam Wright, Jace Kelly, John O'Brien, Lowther, Luke Phillips, Sleeman, Patrick, Plowman, Kershaw, etc who would've been taking up a lot of cash. They have had fairly low-profile coaches in Stone, Normington and Harris and their biggest recruit was probably Donati who hardly played and Sam Clark.

I just think their problem has been the lack of quality youth coming through the ranks since the likes of Patrick, Williams, Plowman, Hughes, Kelly, O'Brien etc all came through at the same time. Lara's success is always going to rely on getting quality young locals come through as it's difficult for them to recruit guys from Geelong clubs due to the distance. As minimal as it sounds, Geelong-based players who are faced with the choice of a city club or travelling out to Lara each Tues/Thurs/Sat usually choose the easier option.

Spot on HBK
They have had a number of players not want to come due to the tyranny of distance.
Donati retired in the pre season and made a late comeback as for clark he just seemed to disappear. There was a rumour that he is going back to the ammos.
A couple of local kids have gone onto better things (christensen smith)
there is not a lot of talent coming from the under 18s at the moment but these things seem to run in cycles.
hoping they keep the majority of the spotswood recruits with harris gone but who knows

One of the reasons why they might have gone with Kershaw is that he now has good contacts in the Werribee and Melbourne area and thats where Lara have to look to get quality recruits because of the reasons i mentioned above. I agree that it is cyclical and down the track they may get some quality juniors coming through again.

Don't know where you have been mate, Clark went back to Ammos mid season and is playing in a Grand Final tomorrow.

How great it is to see St J lose. All that talk about Russell R taking them to the finals were nothing. It is quite apparent that Bell Park and SBarwon are the only two sides capable of winning the grand finals. the others are there just to make up the competition. St Josephs are the chokers of the GFL like Ammos in the BFL

If you think that any of the Spotty recruits travelled down the highway for the love of the game, you are kidding yourself. They were highly paid in the WRFL, and add travel to the equation. When a team spends around the 110-130k mark on players, I would suggest that is a lot of coin for a team nowhere near it!
