we we'nt that far off the top 8 this year considering the bullshit the club had to go through during the season. The Trengove tackling suspension, the $culley saga, the injuries Grimes, Jamar,Davey, The issues between players and footy department etc ect...lets face it it was a mess of a season.
I think our list is good enough just need few new faces to the team, a good service and fine tune up and i can top 8.
 
I think people are forgetting how good we were in 2010. Didn't win many games but we did come very close against almost all of the top 8 teams and thrashed Sydney by 72.

Gazza we only finished 6 weeks ago but have you forgotten how bad we were in 2011.
One of the reason IMO was the loss of senior players and the poor form of other senior players like Sylvia on and off, Green and Davey.
If those three do not have better seasons in 2012 the results will not be a lot different to this year.
The kids will not develop quickly enough to take up the slack.
IMO We currently are a side with the talent to finish in 12th to 10th place.
After watching the GF there is a gulf between the Dees and either of those teams. Witness our results this year 31 Goal loss to the Premier and 14 goal loss to the Pies.
We had a very good draw this year, it is unlikely we will be so fortunate in 2012
We are not very good.
Having said that 10th place would look a big improvment on 2011.

Every season is going to have all of these things involved with it.

Injuries
Trade concerns
Off-field drama
Controversial Suspensions

These are all part of modern day football and it affected every club last season, Melbourne just dealt with it like shit.

What did I do? I picked us to come 13th and thought I was being negative. Then I did the same this year. Next season I'm saying 18th just to make sure I'm either right or surprised.
