So the 9 in Div 3 are Logan, Beenleigh, Carrara, Pine Rivers, Uni, Griffith Moorka, Calamvale, Coomera, Ipswich. Anyone throw up a TAB style futures Premiership market?

Well I think you need to go on previous years and maybe factor in some rumours as well.

I do apologise if anyone is offended by the following.

Top 5 Odds
$1.50 - Logan
$2.00 - Coomera
$3.00 - Beenleigh
$3.00 - Pine Rivers
$3.50 - Carrara
$8.00 - Ipswich
$13.00 - Griffith/Moorooka
$17.00 - UQ Red Lions
$25.00 - Calamvale

Premiership
$4.00 - Logan
$5.00 - Coomera
$6.50 - Beenleigh
$6.50 - Pine Rivers
$8.00 - Carrara
$13.00 - Ipswich
$50.00 - Griffith/Moorooka
$60.00 - UQ Red Lions
$70.00 - Calamvale

Please take in to account that I hear a lot more rumours out of the Gold Coast and Logan/Beenleigh due to my affiliation with these clubs.

The word from Moorooka is good number and Tim is starting to turn things around. This is purely opinion and I by no means have a crystal ball.

Pine rivers when they were up here a few years ago were extremely competitive and I expect that to continue.

Carrara I expect to get a fair few from other coast sides and will be dangerous. I have great respect for Coomera in this division and you can't not give the shortest odds to Logan last years grand finalists. Even if there are rumours they have lost a few to the NEAFL. But won't drawn in to that here.

Ipswich when they put their best 22 on the park a competitive senior side. I have heard no news out of Calamvale or UQ and with UQ taking the leap to PHC in the higher division I don't see enough quality being able to cover for their thirds side.

Good effort mate!

My housemate has a friend who pop's over from time to time and he plays with the Roosters. He was telling me things are quite positive down there and they have started enjoying training atm.

Don't expect to hear MUCH from UQ online. Can't really speak for the 3rds and 4ths boys much anyway, but many of the boys have stuck together during the off season doing group fitness sessions. With any luck there will be continued improvement in our 3rds in 2013.

Hey Buffs, can u provide bsb and account? I'll take $2000 on the Leopards for finals at $25.... Makes it $50k clean for the win... :)

That's pretty solid work Buffs, good top 5 but I'm gonna go with the rumours & leave Logan out.. I'll throw a lazy $1000 on Ipswich for the 5 & another $1000 on Coomera for the flag.. Quinella in the Grand Final of Coomera vs Pine Rivers!

Pine rivers in gf in first year back? Big ask. Anyone know anything bout their recruitment/players from last year?

Yeah I know it's a big call (should pay well) but I based it on mostly rumour & assumption.. Picking up Sandgate's Coach from last year may bring a few interested higher grade players, I believe they have had reasonable success in the past higher up & could have some dangerous forwards. Removing the 3 teams that finished atop the ladder after the H&A season should open the door a bit.. Ipswich shall 'review' the selection policy from last year & may have a new coach??? Beenleigh & Coomera will still be Beenleigh & Coomera, with Coomera edging them out with depth, the question for me is can perennial bridesmaids Logan retain or improve their list? Correa is the key for mine. They just made the 5 last year but almost had it timed perfectly. Moorooka - great attitude, hoping they improve greatly, UQ - still unsure if the thirds & fourths are selected correctly, not having a go just seems there's room to swap a few players. Calamvale - here's hoping the numbers swell, did well to keep their heads above water & I hope 44 keen blokes turn out each week. Carrara - a complete surprise packet, everyone in the know down the coast are tipping they will be able to attract some decent local talent?

Pine Rivers will win the flag easily. They will go undefeated and win the flag by 6 goals. They have some very handy recruits heading there way.

$3.50 for Carrara??? Based on what???

Carrara have learnt the game of cat and mouse very quickly. Have it on good authority that they have a "ressies squad" training on Thursday nights which is public knowledge and a seperate squad training on Wednesdays. Does anyone know the location and who they are hiding?
Also read the posts about Spida playing for them but believe its a red herring as they have another St Kilda player lined up along with an ex rover from Sydney. Called the club to sus out and guy I spoke to laughed and said "lets worry about the makeup of the side in Round 1".

official, caboolture, redcliffe and nambour to div 2. Coolie staying PHC. with the inclusion of carrara and pine rivers, div 3 now has 9 teams. both div2 and PHC 12 teams.

Can't find anything about these "official" changes on the AFLQ website and it's been over a week. (That's not to say they aren't true. It's more a criticism of the League's hopeless PR.)

Too true Danny - the clubs have been notified but you would think it stands to reason that important changes like this end up on the official information site!

I certainly hope you are correct there Pies but its a little early to be throwing around wild predictions like that. There have been some names mentioned but until we get stuck into preseason training and actually have these people show up then ill just say we should be competitive.

The problem coming from Div 4 is that we only played 20 minute quarters with no time on for the past 2 seasons so fitness hasn't been a major priority throughout preseason training. I know coach Longy will change that this time around.

Carrara actually have three squads not two. The second squad is training at Metricon on Mondays not Wednesdays. The third squad is training with a Victorian Amateur team. Agree with some comments on here that they will be fast having played against them in Div 4. They have a small ground which they seem to struggle a bit on but are dangerous on big grounds.

How is the new Caboolture ground going? Is everything on track for a starter in April next year?

Nah, all the rain earlier in the year delayed it. Looking like we'll be in mid-season.

Seems like a lot of "Smoke and Mirrors" for the ol' Mudgie Saints! A lot of effort if its true. My question is who are they hiding from?

All I can say is I would find it hard to trust what some people say. Combined with Chinese Whispers things can get blown fairly out of proportion. It would be good for football to see them do well but personally I will wait until we play them to cast judgement.

I quietly hope that AFLQ don't schedule any "local derbys" for the preseason this year. Takes the fun out of the "grudge matches".

Great news that the League B&F may be a bit more interesting this year without a run away favourite.

Is it gonna be more than 1 ground? I believe it's an 'AFL Pecinct', with that in mind I'm assuming some pretty flash facilities?

Agree with Swoopa. Who are they hiding and why? Saw them twice this year and they are ordinary at best. Yeah they are fast but they are a team of dwarfs with no function or game plan. For them to be competative in Div 3 they need to get rid of the side they had this year.

From what I'm told they pretty much have said we don't want to develop the squad we have and let's recruit a whole new team. They have picked up a couple of ex afl players that are expected to play a handful of games just to build a bit of excitement for the new club which is good for the local footy. Lots of interstate guys that they have chased, will it work for them? Guess time will tell.

They cant develop what they havent got so it stands to reason that they recruit a new side. Personally I dont think they have recruited anyone of note from what I hear in the last day or two.
All this cloak and dagger stuff should be thrown aside and facts looked at instead. Tweed Heads and Bond University were the grand finalists and would be far more worthy than Carrara. Jimboomba would also hold their own. According to the paper they have picked up a handy player from Victoria, but one player doesnt make a team. They got consistantly thumped in Div 4 in the second half of the season. The closest sides to them are Robina, Coomera, Beenleigh and Logan. Can you honestly see any class players following the Coomera reserves coach? I think a more realistic set of betting would be $35.00 for Carrara and $1.01 for the wooden spoon. We need to develop football in Qld and a side of kids who would be flogged by the better under 18s out there is not the way to go.

Carrara hiding a squad of guns from the public eye. Now I have heard it all haha

I also hear they have the 2nd pick in this years national draft

They have had some guns training there though, but guns at div 3 level, not much else. Many of whom havent played for a few years and a few who played div 2 and 3 last year.

They will be competitive and most likely pretty strong due to surfers and robina over flow in particular. It would be disgraceful if they punted the kids that helped build the club. I would imagine they simply look to add experience to help guide them not "A" hole them.

Good night for the buffs last night first sesh back, plenty of new and old faces was good to see.
