Me too but you can still get first pick and not finish last via the lottery.
Not sure the Devils lack of form has much to do with luck, the squad's not very good, lost their two best players for no return and the player's they've brought in don't inspire much confidence to sort things out. I'd be surprised to see them getting out of the bottom four in the league.

True, but when Edmonton aren't in the lottery, 9/10 times the first pick will stay with the last placed team ;)

They'll work something out. Once Schneids finds his feet again and Elias starts working his magic (he's been amazing for his age the last few years), things will come good for the Devils. Not good enough to make the playoffs, but I wouldn't say bad enough to be bottom four.

In other news, Matt Cooke with his sixth point in six games! He's on a roll!

Datsyuk to Zetterburg. Goal of the day for Detroit vs Boston. Not sure how to embed but worth looking up on Youtube or NHL.com

At this rate the Oilers will be right amongst the lottery teams. Need someone to stop the puck. Not sure Dubnyk is the man.

A nice GWG goal from the North Stars to beat the Sabres. Sabres look like traffic cones. Pominville returns in style. Barfalo still winless.

LaBarbera was in net against the Caps, not that it makes much difference, defensively shit and cardboard cutout like performances in goal, bloody wonderful.:thumbsu:

I think the Devils just got new ownership happening as well which isn't always helpful for stability.

While you're talking goalies, Sunday's Long Read was on goalies, and esp goalie contracts.

Watched a bit of Anaheim vs Ottawa last night- forgot how dreadful the Ducks looked in that old outfit of theirs, but they played some real good hockey. Going to watch Washington vs Edmonton tonight- always enjoyed watching Ovi and was pretty annoyed when Leafs bought out Grabo's contract.

I'm going to miss NHL CentreIce when the free preview runs out. :(

What's CentreIce? Is it different to the Gamecenter Live that I have?

So now Lehtonen is out for 2 games which happen to be against Colorado and San Jose.

SJ have had 50 shots in two of the games this year.. pretty sure we gave up 40 shots to the Panthers with Lehty bailing us out on most of them.

Currently preparing my anus.

So two years ago the New Jersey Devils could have surrendered their 1st round 28th pick, the penalty for the Kovalchuk contract shenanigans. They declined. They had a choice of which season to do it up until this season. Now they have to surrender this next draft's first round pick. The Devils haven't won a game yet this season.

They could possibly be surrendering the first overall pick...
You have to wonder if the ghost of Mike Milbury inhabited Lou Lamoriello's body during that draft. Easily the stupidest decision he's made in quite some time (possibly ever?) to not surrender that pick.

Minnesota tomorrow. Looks like Cooke 'turning his game around' could be legit, as far as his stats go. Leads the Wild in the points department, and zero PIM to his name.
Pens fans have been saying it for the past two years.

Yeah, the Karlsson incident didn't really help his image though.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry that the Leafs are up 3-1 despite being outshot 7-24. 5 penalties takes a chunk out of our offensive ice time, but still - our offence needs to wake up

Only insane hockey fans, such as Eugene Melnyk, thought that was deliberate.

An accident.

I'm not accusing him of deliberately doing that. What I meant was that if the cut was laid by any other player on the ice, it would be passed off as coincidental. But because it was Cooke, it was called into question, and because it was called into question, it didn't help his image. Unfair? Absolutely. Accidental on Cooke's part? Agreed. I'm not saying that it was my opinion - I'm just saying that to a lot of people (particularly Senators fans) that really didn't help his "clean" image.

I don't know quite how the Leafs managed to get 4 goals on 14 shots- watched the third period after getting home late from work.. bizzaro world.

Lots of young players out there, wasn't a great performance, in fact, Leafs played crap but still won 4-1. Definitely take that given how long this season is and how hard it's going to be to get top three in the Atlantic Division.

Stars are about to disappoint us once again vs Colorado. Should at least have gotten a point out of this.

Goligoski and Gonchar are potatoes.

Ellis just made a ripper of a save.

Whoo 6 and 1 now baby!!

Not sure how Datsyuk continues to do it to be honest. Did it against Philly aswell.

Not a bad effort from Gustavsson, told 5 minutes before Boston he was in. Comes out and plays a decent game. Backs it up today with 36 saves against the jackets.

Actually starting to feel a little confident with him as backup.

I was really disappointed the day the Leafs gave up Gustavsson. Unlike Reimer, he was unafraid to leave the crease and he used his long legs to his advantage. Only issue was his blocker rebounds, but it seemed neither management nor the players had that much faith in him. His major issue was the goalie coach debacle Toronto when he departed. They tried to get a Swedish butterfly-reliant goaltender to play stop-and-drop.
