Glen Sather got the boot?

The only way Sather is no longer Rangers GM is when he dies! That will be the day.

I assume we're still getting the Winter Classic though right?

Wouldn't surprise me if they're showing a recap of a 1992 rugby game between Italy and Paraguay or a 2011 Netball final. heck Foxtel for anything other than AFL.

Yet another player gets tossed (Gudbranson) for running over a player with his head down. Need to get a player tossed? Just skate around with your head down and get hit. Going to turn this league into a bunch of f'ing Selwoods.

Florida were pounding the Crapitals everywhere but on the scoreboard, resulting penalty from the above "infraction" results in an equalising power-play goal.

Brouwer might want to think twice about challenging Gudbranson again in the future, got pounded.

First Calamitous Cats game I've watched for a while. They've got some excellent kids who dominated or played very well in this game. Bjustad, Huberdeau, Kulikov and Barkov. Thought new acquisitions Hayes and Olsen played well. If Tallon and co. get it right they will be very good in the not so distant future.

GREAT game against the Dawks. Dare I say, best of our season so far? And it's when we have Clarkson out and sit the right people (Fraser, Ranger).

B-E-A-Utiful win. Even better knowing I can see the post-game celebrations on 24/7 :D

Tavares' turn today, Eller runs him over with a clean hit and Lars gets a 2 minute minor.

Keep your head up and tighten up your chin strap, Johnny!

Disagree. A player should be able to look down and expect not to be hit in the head.

For starters initial contact was shoulder to shoulder.

Anyways, in that scenario when a player is skating around the net with the puck that puck-handling player has to know if and when a player is heading in his direction and either prepare for contact or attempt to avoid the approaching player. That player with the puck cannot keep his head down and expect the approaching player to avoid him thus allowing him to advance freely up the ice.

Not saying I saw it. Just saying that he should be expecting a duty of care from the player hitting him not to get him in the head.

It's a two-way street, there is onus on the player receiving the hit not to put himself willingly or negligently into a vulnerable position.
I'd say theres a difference between looking down at the puck to make sure its where its meant to be and turning your back as you're about to get jammed into the boards (the other vulnerable position that comes up a lot).

Agree with you PG, until here

There's no onus on the skater, nor the defender - it's just hockey.

You wanna score, from time to time you put yourself in a place to get hit.

Same in any sport

For better or for worse those days are done in all contact sports. We see it all the time in the AFL (Hamish Hartlett on Seb Tate which was 100% Tape's fault) and especially the NFL.

My main beef is homer media, homer fans and the mock outrage brigade jumping up and down about suspensions and match penalties for good clean hits where the player getting hit is at fault for getting run over.

Also fed up with officials going on the side of caution and ejecting players for these clean hits (see Emelin on Downey last week). Need a video review for these important calls, they're effecting games far too often.

8 wins 3 losses with that dud watching from the bleachers?

7 years at $5.25/year seems like money well spent...

Nobody can blame the Leafs for taking a roll. He was THE free agent of the off-season.
