If mackie were to leave why would you consider to be a fair trade I mean. We only have a limited number of unsigned players of trade value and I can't see pick 1 being offered for a half back.

Probably Adams and a mid first round pick ish-say between 10 and 15.

Having said that, Mackie has two years (after this one) to run on his contract and I doubt he wants to leave.

As Turbo mentioned, the one you should look at is Chappy, was some issues over his contract last year as he wanted 2 and only got 1, the club may not give him another contract if the hammy issues persist, so if he wants to go on he could maybe be persuaded in a player-coach type of role and would offer fantastic leadership. Not that I want to lose him of course.

We are now after players who have more than one year left in them and are injury prone. Plus, he'll be 32 by the start of next season... no wonder geelong are offering a 1 year contract... what club in their right mind would offer more than that to a 31 year old with dodgy hammys? We have an abundance of mids and smalls.... don't need him. The only one we'd be after from the cats is Taylor.. and we have enough money to at least interest him... but doubt he'd leave geelong.

Because you need leadership to help the kids and Chapman would be fantastic for that. After all you've got guys like Cornes et al there for the same reason. Even if he wasn't to play more than 12-15 games in a year, he would still give an immense amount of leadership.

We need mature players who will be round for 4-5 years minimum

Would only consider trading coniglio if NN was on the table. Would offer our entire WA contigent plus any picks they wanted. Winning clearances with NN soft palming into our mids tit or taking the ball midflight and blazing down skoda to kick a goal from outside 50 = epic jizz moments.

Only really grabed over 30s with late picks eg cornes/brogan for pick 40s and power pick 30s I believe. So dal would net u guys a pick in the late 20s-30s

Do you think you guys will activate his additional year or is he pretty much out the door?
To early to say really but suppose if he was offered a good deal I think he would go come over. Reckon he might go but never have been a big fan of Dal.

Because of the number of high end picks GWS have had, we've been very willing to use lower end picks - 3rd round and down - on players who'd like to move here.

But they have to want to move.

Aaaand there is the crux of the question. Dal will certainly get another year activated, and will probably play for another 5 given his effectively completely injury free career. Very, very little chance he'll be traded.

I saw above that Geelong and St Kilda are into Adams...I've got to be honest and say I don't know much about the kid. Is he a regular with you guys? Showing potential or making an impact?

TBH, Adams is one of a bunch of not-KPP kids with a whole bunch of potential who makes an impact sometimes.

Are we only talking ruckmen because our promising up and coming back up ruckman who could one day become a number one ruckman hasn't played at all yet this year? Sauce is young and has a hell of an upside down the track, but is just injured at the moment. Giles and Phillips will be a good combo going forward, just not now. Are we panicking for nothing?

Its more of a case that we need to add in a ruckmen next year as Brogan will be finally calling it a day. But that said we don't need to go crazy and chase a Leuenberger or a Mumford who would both cost big money. Rather we should look at a youngish ruck who have been in the system for a few years with there best years ahead of them and looking for a regular starting gig such as Zac Clarke, Lobbe, Gorringe, Gawn or Daw and all these players are out of contract as well.

Rather take Clarke as he has shown he can perform at the top level. Don't really want any of melbournes culture infecting my club. Lobbe is looking like a dud at this stage and gorringe is still underdeveloped. Daw is a forward and plays stints in the ruck ala big Q. That being said would love daw at the club!!

And here is a little article on our future number 1 pick

AT THE start of this season Tom Boyd felt he had something to prove to himself and everybody else.

Heading into the AIS-AFL Academy's match with the Collingwood VFL side in March, Boyd wanted to play well. That's normal - he sets himself lofty standards which is just one reason why he is ranked so highly in this year's draft pool.

Would imagine a Key-Forward would be one of the Giants' priorities in this year's draft so Boyd's all but a dead-set certainty to be the #1 pick.

Or we might even have another look at Billy Longer who is also out of contract. But have to say I would very much like us to have a crack at getting Daw

Still should've grabbed longer/Grundy both when we had the chance! Having both on our list makes it look more complete and Haynes wouldn't be missed by me! Although we most likely would've missed Tomlinson if we took longer. Grundy could've been nabbed with any of our early picks last year! Gws first major mistake :( but I trust the gws recruitment team so hopefully all works out. Maybe Boyd may end up becoming our partner to
Giles?? Would make the ruck dilemma come full circle yet still believe we need to make a serious play at NN next year. Throw everything we can to get him gubby/silvagni! Speaking of silvagni should we look at Alex silvagni from freo? Very underutilized
