Isaiah Miller, Darcy Gardiner, James Tsitsas, Lewis Taylor, Billy Hartung, Dallas Willsmore, Josh Scott have been picked in their Tac Cup sides for this weekend, so I guess they won't be making the trip north with the VC side to take on NT.

They're mostly playing bottom agers and fringe players against div 2 sides.

Updated the first page with the Queensland squad, and some of the Northern Territory squad. Would be nice if the AFL were to post the full squads, since you know, this starts tomorrow.

Chris25 do you know if the SANFL will be streaming any of SA's games again this year? That was great last year.

Not sure at this stage, I imagine they will be though.

And on the topic of streaming, Thunder Vision will be streaming the NT/VC game tomorrow night at 6pm on their YouTube channel.

Pretty weak Metro side named.

does anyone know why Tom Langdon and Callum Cathcart were overlooked for Vic Metro's initial squad of 98 players? I thought both players would go close to making the final Metro squad.

The leaving out of Cathcart might have something to do with his height and maybe the fact that despite him winning the B&F last year as a small forward he perhaps doesn't impact the contest as much as someone like Kennedy-Harris. What he does is good but he doesn't do it too often. Having said that I'm just looking for reasons without really knowing why he was left out of the initial squad.

From memory, last year they didn't get the live stats working until a couple of games into the series. Hopefully they'll get around to it. Probably shows that not even the AFL takes the crossover div1/div2 matches seriously...

Yeah they like to give some of the guys who may not be best 22 a run against the div 2 teams.

McDonald is really the only top liner playing, and I presume that's only because he's the captain.

1/2 time, VC spanking them.

Saunders and Leslie good up forward but not kicking straight. Goddard dangerous everywhere he goes. Lang, Webb and McCartney good in the midfield.

Wasley-Black and Stokes going ok for NT.

Stokes seems to be the only NT player who has the composure to slow things down when need be. Ankers and Cox have also been handy for NT.

Saunders has been BOG so far. Impey, Saunders and Merrett have been great at ground level in the 2nd quarter, constantly pressuring the ball carrier. Leslie has taken two strong pack marks, one from 4 deep where he stuck his hands up and used his height, while the other was a great mark as he took it outstretched against 2 defenders.

Heading to watch Qld v Vic Metro today. Couple of questions to those knowledgable about Vic Metro's squad, as I have much less knowledge of this years squads than I did last year.

How many of Vic Metro's best 22 not actually playing today?
Who in particular worth keeping an eye on?

Qld had a reasonably competitive side last year - not sure will go as well this time around - were poor against Calder ( was their first game together I guess) - so likely to be one way traffic today. After NT game last year I'm sure even if its not the strongest Vic Metro team they will turn up ready to play

Guys to keep an eye on include Curnow, Spencer, Cavarra, Keedle, Apeness, Cooke, McDonald, Kennedy-Harris, Petracca, Greiser and Sicily.

They've left most of their top line players out.

Look forward to your report :thumbsu:

Callum Cathcart has played two games in the seniors this season for his local club St Pauls, and has booted 10 goals. Should have been in the VM squad.
He does some nice things each game but hasn't really stood out for Sandringham. There's so many of his type, small forward/midfielders that I can see why he was left out. He'd be competing with Billings, Kennedy-Harris, Salem, Cooke, Freeman, Amon etc for only a few positions.

McDonald will be North's first pick. Top 10, probably VM's best mid.
Kennedy-Harris is a potential bolter in my eyes, could go early second round, top 25 maybe.
Hugh Curnow is probably a top 40 prospect.
