Same as the other threads.

Forwards are interesting, after Dangerfield I don't think there's another lock out there, I guess you could make a case for Martin though.

I agree that Dangerfield is the only lock, but I also agree with Gingy about Buddy. So many reasons to like him this year. The main ones being that he's been priced according to his below par 2013 season when his form seemed affected by contract issues and that he'll be playing on the tiny SCG where star full forwards have always flourished in the past.

Have Buddy locked in my forward line now along with Zorko, Gray, Dangerfield, Martin and Bock.

Really think I have the right balance in the forward line now. :thumbsu:

I have to admit I've never understood the appeal of Robbie Gray. Would much rather a more talented mid sized forward version in Troy Menzel for 100k less if I end up going for a mid priced forward option.

Gray was awesome for me when I picked him up in the later half of last season Gingy.

Scored incredibly well for his price and I think with a full pre season (hasn't had one for a while) that he can even go better in 2014.

Gray has the added value of drifting into the midfield too and he is great at setting up play from the forward 50 (gives off alot of goals) but kicks a few himself too. :thumbsu:

Given his price I don't think there's anyone better than Gray as an F5. :thumbsu:

Except for the player I pick for my F5 of course. ;)

Well I already have Dangerfield, Martin, Buddy and Zorko. I think Gray compliments that quartet nicely. :thumbsu:

Have to say though besides Dangerfield and Martin I've purely gone for value in the F3-F5 spots as I reckon Buddy, Zorko and Gray are all massively underpriced vs what they are capable of. :rainbow:

Haha, i remember that well, Gray owes you nothing at all JM :thumbsu:

Big Trav Cloke I think is in for a big year. Will finally have some assistance with Jesse White, which should allow him to not always get double/triple teamed. Would be a good POD by the look of it.

I had him for most of last year and he was much more consistant than in 2012 averaging 95, however, he could easily have averaged 100+ if not for his terrible goal conversion. No reason why Trav can't be a genuine forward super-premo (100+ ave) other than the empty space between his ears.

Hawkins, IF his back issues are sorted. When you look at the players that are more expensive than him : Daniel Merrett, Devon Smith, Tory Dickson, Jordan Lisle etc...he's an amazing price IF he is good to go. I can see 95-100 average. He was terrible last year (because of the lack of movement) and he still nearly somehow got to a 70 average after spending 3/4 of games sitting in the square drinking cup's of tea.

and without making it a Geelong love in, I think Motlop will go bang this year. Like him at $440K too.

it is starting to feel like a cats love in KP, but hey someones gotta love em!

Basically Motlop vs Gray. Why do you think he will go bang this year? More time in the mids? Rack up more possies? Currently he doesn't get enough of the pill to be a consistent scorer. However he has endless potential.

Could also add Varcoe into the mix at 120K cheaper....

I just think another pre season will help him a huge amount and he's a very special talent that has only shown in patches how good he can be. Having said that he was far more consistent last year. He's now played 50 games so things are expected of him. He went +20 from the year before and I expect him to show that amount of improvement again. If you take out the 16 against Brisbane... in the last 8 games he averaged 107. Was VG in the Prelim and Semi which showed how far he'd come. I'd almost have him as #2 behind Danger. I don't agree with him not being a good scorer because of his posession amount. If you just look at those last batch of games again you will see that from 14 touches he got 98 in the prelim, 19 touches in R22 got 92, 16 touches against WC for 103. He will no doubt get more touches this year and in turn take his score to the next level. I think out of all others around that price he is the most likely to pull out something like 120-130's and if he can get his quieter games up from 60's to 80's he will be a great buy.

toxic re Varcoe - You are now officially taking the piss

That's a big if as well. Hawkins really needs to lower his playing weight by 8-10kg's otherwise thse back problems will always be his achilles heel.

Just making sure you consider all your geelong options!

A full team of Cats - you can do it KP

I know! And its not normally my go, I rarely put Geelong guys in (not sure why) but I think those two just stand out. I also have Bartel & Kersten at this stage which is by far the most I've ever had. So I certainly aren't picking them because i'm a fan boy.

Surely HMac can get a spot as well.......
