Snelling was way better than Partington.

must admit I only saw I think 4 SA games but I was mighty impressed with both but I just thought Partington was probably the one I would rate higher. In saying that I wasnt a massive Gregson fan and I think Snelling has a few attributes like him. Partington on the spread from stoppages was elite I thought.

Being a little dramatic, the carnival is a flash in the pan moment rather than defining all the draft talent and ranking them.

For WA
Callum Ah Che - Late first rounder.
Greg Clark - Second round onwards purely for athletic reasons. Can't kick that well, is poor overhead for his size and rather outside.
Bailey Rogers - Injures hurt his carnival. Third round to rookie. I think his colts form will get him drafted.
Dylan Smith - Will be drafted on account of his size and athleticism, didn't feature that well in the carnival but he's likely to be rated on his excellent colts form.
Jack Watson - Rookie prospect. Fine athlete and will attract attention.

Kade Stewart and Snadden are maybes, don't see discrete roles they will excel at AFL level in.

Yeah I really liked Bailey Rogers. His game was consistently good and he did the things the coaches / scouts would have wanted in terms of playing to the structure. His defensive elements I thought were good, he was then willing to attack and bar one horrendous mistake in the games I saw was really efficient. He is a good size, aggressive and looks like he test well. I think he will be late but in this draft that could be pick 45-50.

or as the lead up game to the GF or something.

Could be second week of the Hoildays ,could be some other time. It would have to be thought about but as the only State V State comp left , its does bias the big 4 sides. Im sure the clubs would like to see the best 50 play including the other states.... and then post this game , the AA side is named.

He's been absolutely class above at stages in the Colts. I rate him somewhere between Alec Waterman and Brad Walsh, so a late nation draft pick would probably suffice and that could end up being a value selection.

Eastern Rangers What are your thoughts on his body shape? He looks to be carrying a few kgs and that is one my worries.

Really not an issue. I've not played close attention to his physical condition this year but he's generally been fit and i figure any additional bulk has been from weights and if that is a knock on him it can quickly be worked out in a professional environment. My knock on him is his kicking is merely ok and he's a middling athlete, but a natural inside midfielder with great attack on the ball and elite distribution skills.

Something about those Marist boys. Waterman and Hardisty have both looked sloppy at different stages.

He played first WAFL reserves game today and had 19 touches and a goal. Mountford had 25 touches and Wilkins 22.

Weitering has gone forward!

How much time has Weitering spent forward at the higher levels, and what did he look like?

He's very much in the frame for Carlton's first pick.

While I'd be happy with a gun CHB and don't like trying to reinvent players, I'm curious if he's shown anything up forward and/or how effective posters think he could be up forward.

He hasn't spent too much time forward, he's a natural defender. In my opinion, it would be like moving Alex Rance from Richmond's backline to full forward. It wouldn't make sense.

Weitering is suited to playing back due to his great ability to drop off his opponent and intercept the ball (He has great hands/good marking ability)

Put it this way- He's kicked 5 goals in 16 TAC Cup games over the past two seasons.

He has a little Harry Taylor about him.

Why not select a Green AA and a Yellow AA ...44 players selected from both divisions then have one final game before the final AA side is selected.

Well not often I get something right so reading this today made me think of my idea...

Another change will be to the NAB All Stars Match on Grand Final morning.
The curtain raiser will feature a 'best of’ game including prospects from around the country. In recent years it has been played between the NAB AFL Academy and the Allies, but in 2016 will be two hand-picked squads of the best 50 or so prospects eligible for the draft.

Although not exactly what I was thinking off..it will give the best 50 or so a chance to strut their stuff...and on GF day as well. Has to be good for the best non Big4 kids... as they can show their stuff v the best .

Hi, I'm Sam Petrevski-Seton, and I'm heading to Carlton come November 2016. May not be the great team it once was but at least I'll get plenty of game time!
