Thread for Cincy. Final tune-up for the US Open, hopefully it's more about the tennis this week, but Kokkanksis first round of qualies is not a good sign.

Coverage on ESPN all week

Kokkinakis* (sorry but you keep spelling it wrong)

Was hoping Kyrgios/Kokkinakis would draw Wawrinka in the early rounds, would've been interesting to see how many people that despise Kyrgios would watch the next match against Stan, only to complain more.

Thansai beat Fognini this morning, didn't think Kokk played that great but Fognini fell apart the first set. Still an amazing effort given everything. Faces the winner of Kyrgios/Gasquet next. Yes, you read that right.

Tomic beat Stakhovtsky pretty easily this morning and faces Dolgopolov this season.

Good to see Dasha beat Errani for the second time.
Her best is very, very good. Starting to get that consistency in her game too but does have down games a little too often. Particularly in matches that she really should win.

Really liking her season, at any rate. Hopefully she can do well at the US.

Not sure why I'm staying up for this. Djokovic is way off. Has been for the past two weeks...

Well I certainly enjoyed the match. Good to see there's life in the old dog yet.

Nothing really changes though, Novak is still the favourite going into the USO.

Good for a set. Nothing went right for Djoko in the second. So many double faults and unforced errors.

It was actually more of a case of Federer playing lights out as opposed to Djokovic playing badly, if you had a clue about tennis (which you obviously dont looking at 99% of your posts).

Federer has shown he can still match it with Djokovic - on occasion. Like Wawrinka and Murray. But in terms of overall consistency over the course of a season, Djokovic is still so far ahead of the pack its not funny.

"if you had a clue about tennis".

Must have wasted my time watching tennis all these years then.

I know how Djokovic plays, I've followed him for the past 8 years. I've seen him take it right to Federer and Federer serve it right up to Djoko. The first set was a mixture of both players playing some great tennis. The second set, however, as I rightly pointed out, was far from Djokovic's best. Not sure if you were following the international feed or not, but the commentators made mention of a drop in level by Djokovic as well.

Go resort to childish comebacks elsewhere.

As much as Federer is looking good and playing great tennis, no question Novak was looking soft all week, should of got beaten by Dolgo tbh.
