I'd give Wilson another run unless we need the rookie spot.

Doubt wright will be delisted

Why? He still hasn't signed a contract (ends 2015 & most likely wasn't even offered one) and is just not good enough for AFL football, the club has tried to trade him for the last three years. If we're about being a ruthless team in a performance based industry where this is F1 football then we cannot have players like Wright in the side where others like Lyons and Knight and Kerridge can play exactly the same role but to a higher level. Wright has reached his ceiling, he's just not good enough.

I'm sick of the boys club mentality at the AFC, if we want to be successful we need to replace these players immediately & blood the youngsters or suffer long term.

Hate to give you homework, but you started the thread. How many players do we have to delist / turnover. From senior list and rookie list? Does a player promoted to senior list count in the player turnover requirement?

Not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure we need to turn over 4 players? Also I'm pretty sure promoting a rookie to the senior list doesn't count as a player turnover, that's why some players are delisted then picked up by the same club as a rookie I think.

Pods, Reilly and Siggins the only 3 certainties I think at this stage.

Not great depth in the draft this year so I can't imagine we'll be looking to do a massive cut at the end of the season.
They'd be my 3 expected ones.

Wright might be moved on if someone wants him, same with Kerridge and Lyons if the return is worth it. Can't see VB or Mackay leaving under any circumstances. Martin might be on thin ice as well now that Atkins and Knight have shown they're AFL capable.

Isn't it really about time we ripped that band-aid clean off?

We need three senior list changes, including rookie upgrades.

Reilly gone
Podsiadly gone
Mystery Contestant #3 gone

and we upgrade x number of rookies

don't discount that we may swap players for draft picks - Henderson for example

I doubt we would play someone for 3 quarters of the season and then delist them

Wright and Mackay are players you'd trade in a heart beat if someone was interested. However, I'd rather have them on our list if no one is, because at the very least they provide depth... Just want our club to stop picking them to play if there's a better alternative out there.

Nah.. Delist..
Keep Mackay cause he has years to go no his contract and can run and kick which is rare in our team..
But Wright offers nothing and as you say should not play so therefore cut....
And he has no trade value

We can't cut everyone. Would rather us cut bad young players with no future than average mature players with no future. Someone goes down in the main team, you want to be able to cover it. Not ideal, but plan B rarely is.

Are you lot forgetting that Wright can't kick over 35m? Why would we want to keep him on our list? His disposal efficiency is horrid, he always plays loose in our forward line yet has never capitalised on it. How many goals has he kicked again this year? He is what you call a "list-clogger".

Also don't believe what the coaches or tex say about his non statistical role...lol he was dropped the week after they said that & that was in his better games of the year against Sydney.

No way would I delist Osborne or Martin.
Keep developing Osborne as it doesn't cost us much. Great size and takes a good mark. If JJ went down I'd want him in over the next few years.
Martin, I know a few on here have a problem with him (which no one can ever really establish why other than age). Fella would be still in the 22 if he didn't get sick. Played very significant roles when playing this year. Even if you don't think he is best 22 he offers great depth and can e relied upon to play his role and at a minimal price.
Same goes for Lyons, grigg and kerridge. What do all the best teams have? Great depth. Look at Hawks one player goes down another steps up and provides.

Would prob delist siggins just seems to always be injured or sick. Hard to get a reading on him cos he often plays a shut down role.

Hope Thompson retires and allows the young miss to battle for his spot.

Would try trade Mackey and wright but once again these guys are good depth players.

Can't trade VB he might be past his prime but great clubs look after their own. What club trades their former captain. Can become depth or retire in my opinion.

Would do my best to trade Hendo but I have changed my opinion lately with him up on the wing and hf. But knights is coming through and Atkins.

Pods and Reilly obviously retire. But if we are a sure spot for the 8 I would de. Being pods in for the final game against geelong. Let him have a game on his old ground against his old team. Rest JJ for the finals and play 2 Rick Jacobs and ROB.

I think you need to turn over 4 players from the senior list each season, whether it's via retiring, or delisting. With Pods likely to go, and Rielly already gone, we need to move on two more players. Upgrading O'Brien and Kelly would mean we only need to take two further players in the National Draft.

Read what you just wrote...
Keep average mature players with no future....
No. That is how our list got in a mess under Craigy..
If a guy over 25 cant get a game and has no upside... Delist
Unless he is filling a need like back up ruck.. We have that many one paced, inside mids in front of Wright it would be criminal to keep him

He's been atrociously out of form lately, but I don't think he's bad enough to warrant delisting without at least contemplating our depth. I see what you're saying, but I think there'd be other players I'd want to see leave first.

At the end of the day I won't lose any sleep over if if he's delisted.

Delisted / Retirement

Sam Siggins
James Podsiadly
Brent Reilly

On the Edge
Mitch Grigg (just cant seem to crack it, likely to still have another year though)
Brodie Martin (shows glimpses of being a gun but just cant be consistent often enough)
Sam Shaw (lack of depth of tall defenders will prolong his life on the list you would think)
Mitch McGovern (Harsh but some not uncommon for first years to be delisted)
Nathan Van Berlo (likely to get another year but will certainly have to earn his spot next year, probably just be a depth player)
Matthew Wright (Unlikely to be delisted but will turn into a depth player next year)
