A few predictions:

Morningside
Labrador
Broadbeach
Mt Gravatt
PBC
---------------
West magpies
Wilston grange
UQ
Surfers
Sandgate

I think the gap between top and bottom to widen this year. The ex NEAFL sides to be the top 4. Surfers and Sandgate to be weighing up whether the qafl is the best comp for them by years end, with speculation Mayne and Noosa to go up or NEAFL sides to drop back.

Morningside the likely premier but I expect the other teams in the top 5 to close the gap and another unbeaten season won't happen.

Whispers of the NEAFL falling over and another comp restructure to get louder by seasons end.

Shelton to make a comeback by round 8.

Baxter to kick 90-100 goals and take the hughson.

Kinch for the grogan.

AFL reserves teams to dominate the NEAFL.

Suns seniors and reserves to play finals.

I know what they could do. Make the women's gf the main game that way they can show AFL headquarters how good they are at promoting women's footy.

I reckon while they are at it they should put more focus on the women at the grogan medal count. Surely they could have round by round women's highlights instead of counting AFLQ grogan medal votes.

2010premier,

You forgot to mention the focus for AFLQ this year is for more female central umpires, it won't be long before it will be an all girl affair?

Actually all jokes aside BB, I actually think that is not a bad idea. Not convinced that a young fella who isn't much good at footy and decides to turn his hand to umpiring (please don't take offence any umps out there, just an example, not a indicator of how ALL umpires get there), has any more idea about how to manage a game than the female who decides this is her caper. Sometimes think it makes for a far more disciplined affair from the players too.

What happened to round 1 re match of the previous years Grand Final?
Can ThunderDoc answer if women's Gf is played strait after the Main Game of the day.

Morningside to be the team, Morningside to be undefeated again I think. Broadbeach have recruited really well, and as rumoured so has Labrador. My Smokey is Wilston Grange.

Have heard Morningside have lost 6-7 from last years Grand Final and aren't in the business of recruiting. If the hype about Labrador is real then this might turn the tables.

Morningside loosing 6 or 7 players you say. With their depth in the lower grades, they could loose 10 players and still be a contender for the flag.!!!
They won the lower grade flags 1n 2014 and the seniors had Labrador absolutely smashed by half time,( by memory it was some 15 goals to 3)They then went into casual mode and the final scoreline of 25 goals to 15 absolutely flattered Labrador.
They are financially strong, yet continue to achieve success,,,,,,,, its called a great culture
Labrador on the other hand are fairly financial, and to afford to recruit good players is great, and this enhances their chances of winning a flag. Problem is, a lot of these well paid recruits don't stick around and this certainly is a deterrent on building this special culture a club needs.

Sorry, my comment Morningside being financially strong ,,,,, I meant they are not so financially strong,,, by this I mean they don't have ample funds to recruit good players compared to some other clubs.

Totally agree stuyd1, that's why I still think Morningside will be the side again to beat, if Labrador have picked up a few good on them for recruiting. I do think it will be close up the top end but im not so sure about the bottom end. How is Sandgate and UQ going with recruits? Surfers are picking up a lot of kids from the academy I have heard, so might be quite competitive through out the season. It will be interesting to see where Eric Kurett plays Wilston Grange or Morningside, gun midfielder from Vic.

Broady should be better this season also. Have retained most of their developing youngsters, have 4 or 5 ex players returning( one is big Mitch Brewer.) and close to getting 2 good NEAFL standard players . They have Stewart and Fyfe, 2 good players.

Labrador certainly have the biggest budget in the comp but the reports of what they are spending are somewhat exaggerated. I would suggest that Noosa in the nth division below are spending more with Maloney and copeeland both on lucrative deals. I know seddon left due to the offer by lab being considerably less than what he got elsewhere and he isn't the only one. Baxter is on decent coin but is likely to help them win games so a good get imo. I know they have picked up a few others as well but also have lost a few so interesting to see how they gel.

Interesting to see you have morningside down to 3rd and my cats up to 2nd. It would be quite a drop for a team to go unbeaten then down to 3rd. I'm hoping its a better comp and the unbeaten become beatable but for mine the panthers still favourite. Throw a blanket over the other ex neafl teams I reckon. I'm confident that broady will improve as we have picked up a few and not lost too many. I've heard mtg are building very nicely and are well coached ( got within a goal of lab last year). Grange and magpies to be competitive but just miss and a tough year for the bottom with Sandgate in particular needing help from Aspley players to avoid getting smashed

where did Seddon go?

I heard over the weekend Labrador have lost ,Seddon to Port Colts in Victoria, Barra has retired, Daley to Cairns and have not picked up as many as it has been mentioned on here. Broadbeach are about to sign Dads army, Matthew Lappin,Josh Fraser and Craig Daverport ? Play the Kids Pedro, Spider didn't work at Labrador.

Josh Fraser is only 33 and will be extremely good at this level, Spider would be 40+ so thats a big difference.

Not sure about Lappin though, he would be closer to 40 I imagine.
