I f we stop and think for a sec not sure if the comp this year is a final 4 or 5 set up. You would pencil in Mayne Maroochy and Noosa will compete, but either 4 0r 5 Moreton will play finals, After what they put up with last year good on them well earned. Reckon they will make the other teams earn their spot.

Mayne 17-5-107 d Noosa 7-13- 55 Mayne learn to kick straight this week

Only an idiot who doesn't know much about this comp would have assumed that today's game was a les down misere. Maroochy have recruited very well, noosa have too and mayne were not a 10 goal better side last yr than anyone. Good on maroochy for knocking over mayne today, puts back some interest into what (obviously) some dills felt was a premiership given for the south tigers. The comp isn't perfect but with moretons improvement and caloundra and aspley solid it is a pretty even comp.
Mayne beat Noosa by 10 goals, Roo's beat Nambour by 30 goals. Cant wait to hear your rosy summary of this round.
Regards Idiot and a dill.....

:)
The Roos v Nambour match was a non event. After Nambour ran out of steam 10min in it was all one way traffic. They have a fair bit of rebuilding to do and the 2nd half of the year will require some strong personalities holding things together for them so it doesn't disintegrate. Couple of good boys running around for Nambour in the McCoombes - will be good players in due course. It's not good for coast footy to see a club get belted like this. Not sure Maroochy got a hell of a lot out of the match other than the ability to get a couple of first gamers introduced to senior footy What did you think?

Re Mayne v Noosa - from all reports pretty close for majority of the game but Mayne's better ball use and no doubt better overall group held sway. No Moloney for Noosa which hurt them, not sure when he will be back.
Next match is Noosa v Maroochy - should be a real good game

No doubt Maloney is an asset for Noosa but heard around the circles he hasn't been world beating. Noosa lead Mayne by a couple in 1st qtr but Mayne kicked 14 goals to 2 in the next 3qtrs

Nambour have a quality young core in both squads they'll be a threat in a few years if it all works out. Watch that space.

I reckon they will too in time, hopefully soon. best of luck to them!

Unfortunately Nambour Junior numbers are a concern, especially in the higher age groups. Can be hard to keep the boys interested in footy around the ages of 16 to 18.

and a side made up of nearly local juniors won't cut the mustard as far as competing goes imo. Is a romantic notion but barely ever happens - you need your walk ins, your top ups etc to be competitive.

Rumour has it that the Aspley side that is going out against Mayne is even worse than the one they put out last time on Anzac Day when they got beat by 200+. A lot of injuries and their army recruits are away..

Sounds like rubbish to me...How did they pick up injuries last week...tripping over the Hornets Sports Bar ??

Not sure footy is confined to 1 week injuries Tiger?? They might have a few blokes with 2-4 week injuries or worse?
Aspley had a bye in Round 8 and then another week off...I think most coaches would be bemoaning the lack of games...Guess the scoreboard will tell the story tomorrow...My guess it won't be 200+...

126 points and Aspley played well in patches they didn't play the flood very well. Mayne players took some really classy marks yesterday!

Reckon this is the real big issue in a small number of sides comp TH - when a bye is thrown into the mix it means you are playing 6 games then a bye and this is without the standard byes such as Queens birthday thrown in. If it was even a 9 team comp then you play 8 games and at worst 2 byes for the year + the QB but when it is 4 byes, that makes it 25% of your year is not playing. Hard to get a rhythm going. If the league change anything next year it should revolve around making, where possible, comps being a minimum of 8 teams.

Agree, the comp this year has been tough on the players, supporters and club administrators from the financial perspective of less revenue from less matches and a smaller finals series also...Hopefully the powers to be make a few tweaks next year...

Yeah not that hard I would have thought either with the south having 9 teams. I suppose it is just a case of whether all the incumbents go around again too. There might be a couple of qafa A sides that could come up too.

Nambour put on a great day Saturday V Caloundra raising funds for cancer council Qld, and honouring 2 fantastic individuals from each club who are no longer with us.
Nambour Seniors wore pink jumpers for the occasion which were auctioned off after the game.
Both teams played good hard footy, Caloundra got on top midway through the 3rd qtr and ran out the game strong.
The Caloundra boys stuck around after the game for a drink which was a fantastic, well done fellas. A great day for local footy.

A surprise result at Noosa on Sat. I understand Noosa had more injuries than Maroochydore, so does anyone know how it is that Noosa led from quarter time to win comfortably?
