Teams 2015 Rate My Team

Getting pretty happy with my setup now, just D3 and D4 that I can't decide on. Still have $217k in bank and currently my defense is
Malceski, Newmes, Shaw, Sheppard, Smedts and 3 rookies

Any ideas?
Not sold on any of the other def premos and can't think of any other $350-$400k players I like!

Varcoe isn't a DTer - highest avg. is 75 once, he'll only get between 60-65 and hasn't looked great in pre-season.
Not sure if Whitecross is going to play Rd 1 or even make the team if he's fit.

Took one look at your midfield, then assumed you must support Hawks - and yep you do.
If you're going to have Hodge put him down back
Langford is too expensive won't improve that much
Congilio is a good POD, however I reckon guys like Greene, Ward, Griffen etc. will be taking a lot of points off him, try find someone else for a similar price.
Rich might come good with less opposition attention, although he's never been an elite DTer
Luenberger looks a bit iffy and with Martin stepping up it might hurt him - one to watch.
Cameron isn't a DTer
Martin might be good, but not sure he's worth 280k
Better forwards than Roughead

Griffen or Neale?

Definately Neale - he won't cop a tag with Fyfe, Mundy and Barlow also in the engine room and is a genuine ball magnet. Griffen will most probably cop the hard tag and it's still questionable as to how he will perform in a new team. You can pretty much guarantee that Neale will reach premo status this year bar any serious injuries.

i'd save some coin on one of your rucks... TBC, Kruz or Luenburgr...
not sure i like Jack Martin gets all pumped up but until some rubber hits the road.
Anderson likely to be a vest risk, Hogan KPF risky, Kolo 2nd yr blues? lumuba and docherty i cant see them being standouts so you might be able to save dosh there.
you don't have VanBerlo who has looked solid and set to find more ball this year.
345k for Hallahan seems a bit rich for effectively a first yr player

AFL Fantasy is about risks. I haven't really liked the look of NVB. I have gone the expensive ruck combo for safety and set and forget.

The hawks think Anderson will start on the field and if not he will be put on to bench for Cripps. Lum and Doc are risks that I am prepaird to take.

I disagree actually, I don't think this is about risks at all if you are actually wanting a real shot with it. Because if those risks fail, which they are probably likely to hence the term risk, you are behind the pack. And with everyone having two trades each week, it is near impossible to get back. Whereas you can get away with those unique picks in RDT a bit more a tend to think as there are less people playing and there are limited trades. More value in having that risky pick as the risk reward is better.

Also in saying this, if you just want to go that risky team and focus on something else a little more go ahead haha. But as for saying its all about risks, I tend to think otherwise

Yeah that's fine, we all have our own opinions.

I think to win you have to do something differently that will set you aside from the rest of the field in the first few rounds. Every winner you talk too would probably say that he/she started off with a risky selection that payed off.

But I see that my team is fairly stacked with risky selections but seriously. Is there any Midprice defenders that are not risky?!

Last year the week before the bye I was 10k+. I finished the season ranked 150. I played a risky strategy that meant falling off the pace at the start (mid price cash making) and I would have got higher but I was crippled by injuries at the end.

You can catch up if you can improve your team at a rate quicker then everyone else due to having cash.

I wouldn't have thought so with what he showed at the swans. Not sure about his pre-season though. There are better rooks for the 2 bench spots I reckon

Are many people considering Brett Goodes in defence?
Scored 69 points from 68% TOG And is only $192,000

Compare that to a popular choice like Lumumba who scored the same from 83% TOG and is priced at $402,000

If he's fit hes a lock for me!

The 120k price tag is why people are holding hope. Most people have the money on the field rather then the rooks. All the rook defenders are not that good and at a premium price. Maybe hamling at the 120k mark but I would wait for the round 1 team

I am with the dogs loss of leadership and injuries. A cool head to replace higgens along with their rooks would be smart in my opinion. He is a rookie though. He would need to get upgraded (libba is out for the season so there is scope for him to be upgraded) to be able to play. He could definitely get to the ~350k mark if he plays. Good money making for a d this year

He is a player you will wait and see if he is upgraded and picked round 1.

Personally I would downgrade one mid and upgrade Pearce in the backline. (Goodes you can always trade for a jacksch when teams are named but Smedts is not a guarantee). For me from your mids, maybe swallow for van berlo/Nakia/Rich. You really have to think about this.

I would be wary of dumont and mcguane on your bench. You want playing players. Not sure if these 2 will be round one players. Just watch for week 3 of the NAB challenge and then the round 1 teams.

Ablett has been in training since the xmas break. Just no contact. Weve seen that his running is better than it ever has been although reports of him not being able to lift his shoulder above his head and in doubt for round 1 plus he will get the weller tag in round 2
