Why? From limited game time he scored 44 points, means he can quietly rack up a nice amount of points without having to be flashy about it.

Well if he plays the next couple and is named, then he stays.

I had Freeman ahead of Anderson but that's now changed. Anderson is in and now Boekhorst has the chance to impress :)

From a supporters perspective I could see Jed playing a good amount of senior footy. Brereton suggested he was in the Hawks best 18 when fit, it's a huge call but not outrageous. I could see Sam Mitchell playing a bit more down back along with Hodgey which would allow some of the younger mids to rotate through the centre ( Langford, Jed and so on). Rate Jed very highly.
I certainly like the look of him too, who wouldn't, but his job security is still questionable. Who's spot does he take? The addition of Frawley probably means the likes of Mitchell, Hodge, Burgoyne playing less in defence, leaving less midfield time available for the likes of Anderson. He'll get games, but maybe not consistently in my opinion.

I'm calling it now, Sam Docherty will be in a lot of teams after tonights game.

Thinking of swapping my D4 KK to Docherty, what do you think?

Rate Docherty.
I'm all about Docherty. First full preseason, swapping from half-back and the wing, massive kick of the footy so will snag some goals. He's going to be a good pick IMO. 90ish average.

I think Mitchell, Hodge and Burgoyne will play heavy defensive roles because of the their age. Not only that, we have an abundance of young midfielder who are coming through. I think Lake will be in and out over the course of the year and Frawley will just replace him in the FB.

If Jed is in good form this year I think the coaches will find a way to squeeze him in. Even if its at the expense of a younger mid like Langford or Shiels if their form isn't up to scratch.

Langfords locked in to the hawks imo

It's wonderful in theory, but who doesn't play in the back 6 to accommodate these 3 players now having heavy roles in defence?
Langford and Shiels getting dropped?????
So Hodge, Mitchell and Burgoyne are playing in defence in place of (?), and one of Langford or Shiels is getting dropped for Anderson?
Well done. In one fell swoop you have successfully turned a premiership midfield and a premiership defence into second rate ones.
I'm glad you are not coaching

Haha settle down, I'm just talking hypothetically. Stranger things have happened in regards to players getting dropped on the basis of form. Spangher will probably play less along with Lake which can slightly re-structure the backline, too early to say anyway.

Spangher out, Frawley in.
Not much else changing down there in terms of personnel IMO. Most great sides are built on stable and consistent back 6's. Hawthorn's is more like a back 10 considering modern rotations, but still be the same names, just different roles.

Not based on last night :)

Duryea. But with injuried, it won't be that hard to get him in there
They really like Duryea, as do I. He gives them something that they don't really have, a specialist small defender. He's much improved, has all the qualities you want. Don't see them adding another untried mid, albeit a very talented one, for Duryea. Plenty of depth in the middle already. Duryea gives them better balance IMO
