It's hard to accept that neither the crows or Port have been able to get a father/son player from any of the eight SANFL clubs
They league is going change the amount game for all fatherson, academy player to 50 game that means Ben,Sam Reid would be Bulldogs rather then were they playing this will help all club

Back on the post I'm most looking forward to tracking the years on Jarman, Daicos, and Bradley. Sumich will be a smart footballer and a great get for WC.
Waterman's the one thats got eagles fans excited. 2 goals 3 , 8 marks and 22 disposals from his first colts game last weekend.

I heard they were going to stuff around with the concept so much that no one is happy with the outcome and the problem is now worse that it was before... Standard AFL practice really....

I was about to say business as usual. Also this came through a couple of days ago:

SCPaige re billy lambert, not eligible as father son for the lions as craig lambert only played 96 games for the bears/lions. now with the lions academy, not sure of the more detailed academy guide lines but i thought there was a residency requirement ie. minimum number of years you had to live in the catchment area to be eligible for selection via the academy process?

How do these academies work? Son of a former AFL player apparent qualifies - what a joke, supposed to be developing outside talent from Rugby and Soccer and Basketball.

It is probably going to come to ahead soon as this was a recent game between the Swans and GWS academies

G1 - U16s

UWS Giants Academy - 16:6:102
QBE Sydney Swans Academy - 10:6:66

Goals - Nick Blakey 3, Shaydan Close 2, Will Broadbent 2, Cooper Kilpatrick 1, Tom Meacham 1, Chris Holten 1

Best - Nick Blakey, Christian Loone, Austin Clark, Caleb Felton, Johnny Pawle, Fred Tricks, Rory Barkley

So would he have he's choice of 3 clubs? Lions Giants and North Melbourne

Do Brisbane get the rights to the sons of former Fitzroy players? If so then yes Nick Blakey will have the option of going to 3 clubs, though assuming his father is still with the Swans in 2 years time he will probably pick the Swans as Nick would have lived in Sydney most of his life as John has been an assistant coach at the Swans since 2007, and Nick must only be 15 or 16 now.

Can't blame the kid for attending the academy if he lives in a non football state.

We currently have the Ashcroft kids in our academy to make sure Brisbane don't get first dibs

Except much like Lachie Weller, he can't be taken by Brisbane because he hasn't spent enough time in the state in question. So why do these clubs keep helping train up promising AFL talent that they can't take with priority access? I agree, what a joke!

Much like sending academy kids south to TAC cup clubs to play in the best U18 comp in the country but still have first dibs on them.

Eh, don't give a shit if the TAC Cup chooses to ban those players. That's up to them - maybe raise it.

Isn't that a good thing as it means no academy club can hide potential guns?

Helping develop the already highly developed kids is a good thing?

The kids want the best of everything and right now, the AFL is allowing it. Should be as soon as a kid goes south or moves he is ineligible to be an academy player?

Doubt the kids would be too keen on repaying assistance, etc, received while a member of the academy. Don't know if that's how it works at the moment, but it'd probably have to change to that if your proposal was implemented to avoid clubs getting screwed by players choosing to move in their final year and defeating the whole point of academies. I know most scholarships for universities that have conditions to that effect. That's why I reckon the AFL banning them from TAC Cup would make more sense.
