I'm not sure Ainsworth should be our draft target, especially if we get Breust - our forward line is already very strong. We need more talent through our midfield and back line at the moment. Think Mcgrath, Scrimshaw, Logue or Perryman (if GWS don't match) would be better fits for our needs right now.

If we get Bruest i think it will be a lock we would'nt go Ainsworth , unless the club goes down the path of best available like they did with 2MP , which at the time did'nt make much sense with Dicko on our list but turned into a masterstroke.

Do you think Nicholls is the long term answer?
His ground work isn't bad but actual tap work is pretty poor

Is a bottom 4-5 starting ruck in my opinion.

Don't think there is much harm in bringing in another young guy who may improve.
something doesn't stack up if we are looking at Witts seeing we have Currie and Tom too, maybe we know Keegan is leaving and we need a NEAFL ruckman between the three of them, whatever it is something is afoot

I would think Breust would be in any deal for Mitchell and not JOM.
He is a NSW boy and surely would choose to move to a top 4 contending team like Sydney over us.

The Swans had 6 rookies play a lot this year so young players not essential. If Mitchell goes, will want mature players to keep them in contention. Breust would be just as lethal playing with Buddy, Tippett and the Swans midfield as he is with the Hawks.

Hoping the Lions go hard for Witts and not us. Would rather we go another year with TomNich and Currie and see where that leaves us. Focus on midfielders and utility players for any open list spots please. Need a lot more depth there first before starting to worry about improving other positions.

Guys your educated knowledge needed here please - my understanding if we don't get a deal done with Hawthorn we can still accept something from another club that we deem acceptable and Jaeger has to accept, is that correct? The constant discussion that if Hawks don't do a deal then we drop him in the PSD is not the only scenario is it. if St Kilda came at us with the right amount of compensation we can offload him there instead during the trade period?

He would have to agree to the trade

And that is unlikely to happen if he has his heart set on going to the Hawks

From memory Caddy wanted to go to Essendon , but the club could'nt get a deal done and ended up at the Cattery , so yes Hawks are not the be all and end all , but Jaegar needs to agree.

Well suited though, whorks and a prostitute

its hard to imagine him moving to us at 25 years old unless we give him the 5 year sweetheart deal

IMO - offer 4 year deal for $2.6m (avg. $650k p.a.), pay $1m in 2017 as we should be able to afford it next year in our cap

Given Sydney could only offer Mitchell around $400k it would be hard to see them matching such an offer unless they ask Buddy to take a haircut.

pick 6 for Rockliff is waaaaay over the top
Very good player and it sounds strange saying this but not sure Rockliff is what we need. He's a bit of a divisive character from most reports. Don't think we'd be a chance anyway, Brisbane need all the experienced players they can keep. Maysie and Lynchy would have to keep him in line. Like SoA's thoughts and team (forward line looks deadly), but Hartlett is another I'm wary of. Bloke is injury-prone and inconsistent. Still if Port are paying a good portion of his wage.... :)

If we rate 6 at Prestia's worth, I would put Rockliff around that same rating tbh perhaps Pick 8, but Rockliff in for Prestia wouldn't be a horrible trade off, if you can get him in line.
We need Tom Mitchell or Tom Rockcliff (in order of preference) need to give pick 6 (from prestia deal ) and a sizable salay to attract either of them.....

Rockliff is a gun, gets beaten up by a few melbourne media types because he can be a pig but is an a grade midfielder. He is definitely worth a top 10 pick.. we have 8 but to make the trade appealing could offer 6 on the agreement not to bid on bowes. This is being aggressive at the trade table.

I had Fiorini on the pine, hall in the guts before bringing in rocky.. forgot to put him in the depth list.. also dont even have sexton!!

Potential draft tampering and I don't trust Brisbane enough not to bid to do that. Sexton should be best 22 material next year IMO. Coming along slowly but nicely. With Fiorini to come :hearts:

But I thought that wasn't the case and the Club said so in the original presser saying it wasn't up to Jaeger where he goes

Hasn't rocket been quoted indicating they want to strengthen the backline? Not many defenders being named in these trades. Which defenders has been put out as trade bait that we could be looking at?

The whole Witts thing in quite baffling. Are we just looking for injury cover for Nichols & Currie or are we hoping he will mature and possibly overtake both our current rucks?

If we are just looking for injury cover, we could just rookie draft big local lad Fraser Thurlow (ex-Bombers) who returned to the Southport Sharks this season. Huge lad, only 23yo, perfect cheap injury cover for 12-months?

Not sure what the clubs thoughts are behind this rumour?
Definite ruck upgrade on Brooksby who ends up as our ruckman when Nicholls and Brooksby are injured. Helps improve competition between the rucks and hopefully performance as a result. Not against it. We could do with a monster ruck. Having said that though, Nicholls wins more hit outs on average which is a worry for Witts when he's 209cm and 111kg.

I would rather bring in Mc Evoy who can mark up forward is physical and kicks goals

Suppose it depends if he digs his heels in, and if the other club making an offer can convince him to go there (similar to Caddy with Geelong and Essendon). There's no way we'll let him go to the Hawks if another offer is significantly better. We'll try to push him in the third club's direction.
