Leigh Montagna and Jeremy Howe have lost their DPP and can only be selected as defenders in 2017

Jake Carlisle and Jack Martin have won D/F DPP

Andrew McGrath, Ben Long and Sam McLarty all have DPP for the rookies

JJ and Docherty should be the first 2 picked in most sides.

interesting part will be if teams go 4 premos or 3 premos? will depend on rookies.

or 5 premo defenders

Agree on JJ & Doc & maybe heater

Simpson will be my first picked player. Had him every year since he became a defender and have no reason to change that. Stud.

hopefully will pull his finger out and we will play him where he is most dangerous (hint: ITS NOT ON THE HBF!!!)
Wont happen. The club wants to trade his lazy arse remember.
Similar to Gary. Can't pick a player that doesn't want to be there, ala Lids last year at Richmond.

Port were happy to keep him as well... it was a mutual agreement for the options to be explored. HH was never leaving and we never pushed him out the door.

Doch, Simpson, Adams, JJ, Pittard/HH for me, depending on rookies.

Only Cats Defenders I would tell people to consider would be:

- Thurlow (cheap coming back after ACL, Enright retired & Cats highly rate him so he should play straight away, see how he goes in NAB)

- Stewart (mature age recruit & with Mackie in his last season I'd say Stewart will go past him in 2017 it's just a matter of when, obviously will be cheap)

no Tuohy? but agree on those 2.

Stewart should slot straight into the side. nice juicy 117k rookie

I'm 50/50 on Tuohy at this stage, maybe a new team could bring out the best of him, one positive is that we'll definitely use Tuohy & Thurlow to setup the play from the back line instead of being lock down defenders. Do we know how much $$$ Tuohy will cost? I could see why people might take the risk on him, if he has a good NAB it might sway me to make him a D3/D4 in my side.

going by the formula, Tuohy will be around 440k

Hmm awkward price, would want him to be a keeper, good that he's durable hasn't missed a match in 3 seasons or something.

I usually like to go deep in DEF so might go Docherty, JJ, Adams, Tuohy/Laird, Thurlow, then rookies or something. I've probably forgotten someone though.

Edit: Just saw Tuohy's last 5 matches this year he scored 108, 121, 112, 67, 112 for a 5 round average of 104, intrigued now.
