Only just realised that I played footy with one of Carltons rookie recruits this year. Katie-Jane Grieve played for South Bunbury in the first season of the South West football league. I play for a Vets team associated with South Bunbury. We trained the same night as the women, and generally we finished off with a joint training session.

Throughout the season we also had about 3 or 4 mixed scratch matches. Katie from the first scratch match impressed. She is small, but she is quick, and very aggressive. Attacks the ball very hard, or the player with it if she is not first there.

One of our guys got teased all year when he was completely cleaned up in a tackle from Katie. It was a lift them off their feet body slam them on the ground type tackle, which given her size, was impressive.

Raw talent, kicking needs work. Has a tendency to take on to many players rather than use the first good option. However, her attributes of speed, aggressiveness, evasiveness, willingness and ability to take on and beat tacklers and ferocious attack on the ball could make her a standout.
