We're the biggest club in the land. How we have guys like Kenny and Hope on our team baffles me. There would literally be players lining up to play for us and we have these guys running around for some reason. Hope I really don't think will make it, but am prepared to cut him a little slack due to age and game time (still don't think he'll make it), but Kenny? FMD.

Thats what the salary cap does to the big clubs unfortunately

So he played with Robbie Kruse last year? Who else has Robbie played with?

Played for Mainz, Schalke and Fulham. 34 years old but only missed a couple of games last season and played 30 matches (90 minutes in all but two) at centre back.

Disappointed that we wait til the end of the season to play at Parra Stadium, and even more disappointed with the Christmas period bye. Drifting over to Swan St from the cricket was one of the great Melbourne summer days.

According to the vuck podcast, the lack of transfers/signings was due to miscommunication/understanding between club and marco.

Miscommunication already after only being on board for a few months. Not good, not good at all. We must be flush with cash, no marquee and plenty of salary cap room. Expecting some big names sooner rather than later.

I know they think the source is impeccable, but there's no way that can be right. There's no way you hire a manager because you believe in his scouting connections, only for him to say scouting isn't his job.

And if he did say that? They should've fired him on the spot. In what universe should the manager not be driving scouting? How does anyone else know what type of player he wants?

Have to agree with you Nobby. I call bulshit on that claim by the guys on the Vuckcast

Yeah, so there was no conversations between coach and recruitment (or management) at all?

Marco never asked how the recruiting was coming along? "when will I see more players?"

Management/recruiting never asked Marco about recruiting (if it was his mandate)? "any news on potential signings and wage demands Marco?"

These conversations happen in Church leagues when you're struggling for numbers so I can't believe no conversations were happening at all about recruitment between the parties involved.

Agree. I call BS on that.

It’s embarrassing that a club of our size hasn’t assembled a squad yet together and we always leave our business towards the last minute.
This puts us behind the eight ball to integrate players and familiarise them to the system.

Signing former players in Kruse and Nabboutt doesn’t count because we know them.

No marquee yet.
No #10.
No central midfielders.
No central defender.
No upgrade to our pathetic full backs.
No back up striker (Kenny is garbage)
No other wide player depth.

This isn’t a way you start a season with a new manager.

Season is 2 months away.

It’s the same story every year though.
Look at Sydney —-transfer business done quickly and swiftly and can concentrate on integrating players.

We have an thin squad as it is...imagine the new manager trying to implement his mentality and tactics on players whereby he has holes everywhere to plug.

It’s an laughable concept
