2019 Membership changes

I think being able to reserve more than bay N6 for games against Collingwood, Essendon and the Blues would be the best outcome ... even though I will miss N6 my old seats since 98.. I will take full strength beer at Friday night matches as a trade off !!!

Yeah I knew the simpletons would destroy any kind of constructive dialogue.

You’ll possibly find it harder to get a seat next year as I know a lot of people are upgrading to 3121, I hope the changes are smooth anyway.

We won't

3121 has been sold out every year recently, and as everyone is telling you, we have never missed getting a seat

The extra 3121 memberships are going into the extra bay 3121 is getting

Reality is the 3 of bays will be managed by natural attrition, upgrades to 3121, and Olympic transfers.

If you remain a member, I genuinely don't think you will have any issues in 2019. If not, that's your call and fair enough.

So basically N1 to N9 (which is sold out) is being consolidated into N1 to N6.

Yet the club are saying that they won’t be over subscribing the PC membership category and that everyone will be able to get a seat.

So they’re assuming 1/3 of PC will either not renew/downgrade, move to the Olympic stand reserved seat option (which from all reports is severely restricted anyway) or upgrade to 3121.

Seems all a bit far fetched.

So in the case of a blockbuster game like R1 or Dreamtime, assuming for example, there are no guest passes available and all PC members turn up to the game, where do you sit when you miss out on a seat?

I wonder how many pc members were on the 3121 waitlist already....

Also don't underestimate churn rates, they are pretty high for memberships

The membership department keep saying no one will miss out on a seat, but I really don’t get it. For Dreamtime et al it’s been completely full.

I think there will be a spill out section on the ground level for the unlucky late arrivals.

I have four 3121 memberships for our family and it is difficult to find 4 seats in a row at the bigger games unless we get there early. I wouldn’t want to see it get more crowded or oversold. Not the end of the world though.

At the end of the day those that have to move will still be sitting in roughly the same area and may have to sit with a new lot of fellow tigers around them. Not that bad really.

What if you are a group of 6-8-10-12?
Gonna find a row of 12? Gonna find 2x rows of 6 & 6 together each week? Some in the group have had their seat since the stand was built, have attended every match and have their name on the wall in MRC...

“Thanks for being there / donating when we were shit... we good now, we have 100k and wait lists!”

I’m not a Gold Member but I still have Grand Final guarantee through my Silver Premiership Circle membership.
Also the letter I got from the club didn’t stipulate any changes to that.

Yeah, that's why I didn't really think the information was accurate. But maybe it's changing in 2020?? Who knows anymore.

The person I spoke to on the phone today reckoned they weren’t going to over sell the memberships in N1-N6 just guest passes on low attendence games?

That person needs to speak to Benny and Co. They were asked, on a number of occasions, "How many more members will have access to N1-N5 above the current members ?" - They can't give a figure - but the chart of 57% attendance kept popping up as an excuse (it is all our fault). After the meeting last night, I received a call from a Tiger supporter who moved to another section 2 years ago. He has been offered access to the reserved area N1-N5. So the club is already advertising the area to members that have left.

Ive heard that theres a waiting list for 3121.
In saying that im pretty certain they are letting everyone who is affected bypass the wait and recieve a discount for the first year of upgrade.
You can even buy guest passes to 3121 for 99% of the games (i know bc we do this for my mum most weeks).
This highlights that there will be no issue in finding a seat, something this morons cant seem to wrap their tiny minds around....

Ive been a 3121 member since the start.
You can never not find a seat in there for any game at any time.
These premiership circle w***ers need to get a grip and learn sometimes small change is for the greater good.
With the way they disrespected benny tonight i hope they have to sit up in the nose bleeds.
Disgusting

"A seat" - what about seating for a family of 8 that would like to sit together, as we have been through the lean years ? From other 3121 posters on this thread, there's issues finding 4 seats in any given row. Extra 3121 bays - great, but no one can guarantee numbers. They are guessing.

So I guess the Grandmother that has been a member for 54 years, that attends games with her Grandchildren is a w***er ? Under the new system, she simply cannot attend games any more. Either can her Grandchildren.

I'm not convinced you were there last night, unless you were the 3121 member that stood up to explain the virtues of 3121 and was booed and jeered until he sat down. Give us a spell, almost everyone that spoke last night started with congratulatory remarks towards Benny and the board. The only disrespect shown was the presentation from the bean counter.

Everyone agreed that we would be happy to pay double to remain in our seats. Immediately rejected.

They can guarantee seats. The stats were conclusive that 57% of people rock up therefore youll get a seat. And if you want ‘8’ people in a row you most certainly can get that. Turn up 20 mins before the game and youll find that in 3121. I was there last night. And ffs really? Benny couldnt finish a line with out some hero cutting the bloke down. Hes the only guy whos been able to steady this club in 30 years he knows his shit, you lot dont. If thats not disrespect idk what is...
Ive been through the lean years also. 21 years of them to be exact. Why dont you put your faith in the club?
Its worked for 3121. Theres no reason why it cant continue to work. If you dont like that solution arent you getting the same seats on the other end of the ground? The club has to maximise revenue to sustain success. Unless you want to drop back down to plodder level like st kilda.
Grow up.
Here are some pics from the last two weeks from my instagram of 3121.
As youll see there are spare seats here from two big games (Geelong and essengear)
Sorry for my pie and stupid tatt sleeve

A 3121 Member was booed and jeered?

That sounds disrespectful to me.

These people are not the first long term members to be moved out of their seats. It happened to me and my family 3 years ago. I too am a foundation MRC member. It was frustrating at the time but I understood that what’s best for the club should come before individuals. That’s kind of the point in buying a membership, to help the club.

I was offered the 3121 upgrade and despite the extra cost I have had a great experience there.

The meeting was emotionally charged, even Neil Balme mentioned that our club is the greatest club in the land because of our supporter base. No PC members were going there to bring flowers or to start a bar fight (even though it was open bar). It was a forum where ideas can be exchanged. The club has already made up it's mind. They were simply providing us with relevant facts to support their decision. We contend that the facts are incorrect. Benny's speech made a lot of sense, but the bean counter (from Norf of all places) was selling us lies. But he is right, he has been at the club for all of 1 year. The 3121 member sat at the front and recorded the entire forum on his mobile device (iPad etc). I found that disrespectful. In a condescending tone, he invited the mob (PC Members) to come and sit next to him and have a beer at the footy. In another context, it would have been seen as a friendly gesture. I'd have a beer with him no problems. But I think it didn't go down well after we have just been told that coterie groups are the reason we have been moved etc..

Agree.

As stated previously, my seats have moved 4 times across 3 grandstands.

I support the Club and what’s best for it first and foremost. Some clubs like West Coast and Fremantle have changed stadia. I sat with West Coast members at Perth Stadium for our game. The change in packages and upheaval was an initial challenge for them, and they are the biggest “booers” of all time, but they now sit in the the second best AFL Stadium.

We have access to the best one.

Am always thankful to support the best team at the best stadium.

How do you know the 3121 Member was recording it? What would that achieve?

Dino is new and, yes, fulfilled a similar role at North Melbourne. I’ve attended dinner with Dino and met him a few times since. He’s a very smart guy and, from my dealings with him, a fair, considerate and observant one as well.

I’m sure he’ll take any feedback on board.

Im sorry but I just find a lot of this greedy. You have blokes like Riewoldt and rance playing for unders despite being at the club and being loyal during the dark times, yet people act like giving up a reserved seat for reserved bays which do indeed work is the end of the world.

It was always going to happen that the club would be bringing in more cashed up members due to the success and make it harder for the lower membership groups to keep their perks. My dad and I have been members for 22 years and been in PC for 15.

We are definitely not happy but I guess gotta make as much money as you can while everyone is willing to pay top dollar. But even though PC has the reserved seats and 3121 don’t they always seem to end up in PC seats anyways

I have photos of the entire row empty (2016). The bean counter conformed this - after round 5 pre 2016, the attendance drops dramatically. That is a reflection of the on field performance, and the inability of the club to provide alternatives to members who cannot attend - ie - selling their match day seats. But I concede that many members simply "give up" and wait until next year. They paid for their seats, so why should they attend if the team is performing poorly ? It is their choice (a protest in some capacity - maybe highlighted in the "Sack Dimma" threads perhaps)- they have already given the club payment for their seat regardless. Fairweather supporters - I didn't say that. What I can say, is that I've attended almost every conceivable home game at the MCG. Win, lose, draw, spoon or premiership.. The club sent me an email in 2014, thanking me for attending every home game.

Other may have rang the club, as I did. We were encouraged to attend tonight, to hear it directly from the club. The club confirmed, tonight, that extra memberships will be available in the areas N1-N5. N6 will be for ticketek pre bookings (154 seats). What the club is hiding, is the number of memberships to be offered ABOVE the 1500 that we already have. We simply have lost the reserved seats. It will be a free for all. first in best dressed. The question was raised as to what will happen to a PC Member who travels from interstate, or travels for 3 hours only to find the section filled completely. The club would not and cannot answer that question. They just pop up another graph and move on to the next question.

Keep in mind, we represent around 2% of the current membership. While other members may view us as being "precious" etc - just remember - The club has just STARTED their plan. The bean counter expects that some of us will upgrade to 3121 - so more competition for seats. Some of us will have preference of seating in the Olympic stand. Moving those members to somewhere else etc etc..

Also, confirmed tonight - These reserved areas are NOT for new members. They are for coterie groups. The Executive groups have taken up an area once used for coterie groups. So the club is just shifting supporter groups around. It might be us this week, but rest assured, it is only the beginning.
Used to have a reserved seat in M55, which my mate and I had for 20 years. Stinks that will be taken away from the people we used to sit with.
Thank God my Mate is now MCC member, which I have been for a long time now. I’d be irate if they tried to take my seat away after supporting the club financially for such a long time

He was live streaming it to the Richmond Tigers Serious Supporters Facebook group. (I think that’s what it’s called)

Source: I was watching his (or “a”) broadcast from my pc at home.

In the words of Harry Hoo on Get Smart..."Amazing".

And what constitutes a Serious Supporter as opposed to others?

Jack & Rance and any other RFC players are here short term.
Supporters are here for life.
