Geez people are harsh on Zerrett I tell ya. 117,117 and then 101, which was actually about 110 when you take out the concussion stuff. Whether you start him or not is another thing, but I’d comfortably say he’s a top 8 mid
Someone on here pointed out a notable change in bombers playing style with Shiel and Daniher in the side. Was more attacking with less sideway. I noticed it myself. Means there is an argument he will get less of those cheap +6’s. Also the fact Shiel is there may mean he gets less ball, less inside tackles .etc.

Could very well be the pick we all thought he would be earlier this pre season though.

Too hard to say for me, so I’ll be playing the wait and see game with him

Ridley is the only Bomber in my kit atm. They do seem to have a different mode of play this year so far.

Who’s everyone’s top 8 mids and what do you think they’ll average?
Macrae 119, Coniglio 118, Oliver 115, Treloar 115, M Crouch 115, Taranto 109, Merrett 108.
...Macrae, Cogs, Cripps, Oliver, Crouch, Merrett, one of the Pies (Sidey/Beams/Treloar), some bolter.
Macrae, Brayshaw, Treloar, Cogs, M. Crouch, Danger, Zerrett, Adams
Macrae, Cripps, Oliver, Cogs, Beams, Yeo, M Crouch, Jelly, Fyfe, Taranto
I'm going Macrae, Cogs, J Kelly, Oliver, Treloar, Cripps, Brayshaw, Gaff
Conigs (120), Bray (120), Macrae (120), Oliver (112), Treloar (112), Crouch (110), Cripps (110), Raffle for the 9th amongst Sidebottom, Beams, Selwood, Yeo, Gibbs

I like this. Really we should all be predicting our top 8 (6/2 for DEF, FWD / RUC) for each position as part of picking our starting squad, as it will reveal where the value is.

My bet is as follows, in order:

Macrae (128)
Coniglio (120)
Cripps (118)
Ross (117)
Brayshaw (116)
Adams (115)
Merrett (115)
Treloar/Kelly/Steele (113)

The bolded were the only ones in the top 8 mids by average last year. I feel Gaff will drop this year, and Ross, Adams & Steele the real bolters.

The form line that suggests he'll score well is averaging 95 two years in a row in the real stuff. Can't take JLT too seriously or Jamie MacMillan is a lock D1
Right, but he's priced at 95 anyway. I meant does he show scope to improve? Not on exposed form. So if you want a ruck who will average 95, and are willing to pay that price, he's fine. The original post i responded to said he was a "value pick". Which i took to mean he was good value. But the way i see him is you will get exactly the points you pay for, will not make money and he won't ever be one of the top rucks. Which to me isn't great value.

I was actually quite hot on Ross prior to JLT. Was looking leaner, finish last season on an absolute bang, and entering/in the prime of his career. Have since chosen a few guys different, but will be monitoring him closely in the early rounds

Think if you want to hop on Ross it’s at the start of the season. Just look at their first 4 games...

Yeh they do look juicy.. how to fit him in.. the man has a good engine and great speed, people are predicting these type players will benefit from with the 6-6-6 structuring.. output in JLT was down, how much should that be looked into?

Stevens being out means Ross is #1 to tag at Saints.

Gaff is my 1st upgrade target
Be a bit wary with him. He’s looked a little rusty so far this preseason and might take a little while to get back into the swing of it. Probably at his maxed price now so it’d be fairly safe to hold off on him for a couple of rounds and get him cheaper possibly

Personally think cash gen is king to win this thing so I would go with getting Archie in. All depends on if he is named though
Archie will be my R3 even if not named round 1. He should (might?) play early in the season...and if not can always be downgraded to a 170k ruck for extra cash leading into the byes.

I still think macrae will Be the highest scoring player this year and I will want him in my team. Just slightly concerned by swans in rnd 1 if he Cops a tight tag and his price could drop 50k+ very quick.

At the same time he may go 130 from the get go and I’m left chasing my tail all season to get him.

Maybe I’m just making change for the sake of change at this point now
I guess it depends on where Bont plays. If he's in the mids, surely he gets the tag

Is it crazy to have Clarke and Smith R3 & R4? It would mean you have cash generation that no one else will have and means that you dont have to trade R1 or R2 if they go down for a week.

All this hype on Clarke, but I actually think a bloked named Sam Draper might be the go for your R4. Apparently can play second ruck/forward, so could be a good replacement while Daniher is out. Then again, more likely that McKernan gets that gig. Either way, can't see Clarke getting a look in early on, given Bellchambers is a bit ahead

Would certainly take those AFL 22's with a pinch of salt (if that)

But yep, definitely merit in having Archie on your bench. Looking at that option myself.

DynamiteDons can you shed any light on if Daniher's injury opens the door for Clarke?

Yeah Id like to hope they would consider Clarke, however they probably see Mckernan as a better fit forward, who can also go into the ruck. But saying that I would like Clarke to be given a shot. and would be great for fantasy teams too!

Saying he will go up in price is basically betting on him turning into Titch. I would never bet on anyone turning into that. Odds are it won't happen. Thats just history of the game. Thats why i cant spend that much for him. I am assuming he will hover or go down in price. I think people are overblowing how difficult it will be to get him if you dont start with him. They also dont mention how "hard" it is to START with him (891K). Thats a large bet on a player.

All this said, sure, he COULD "turn into Titch" and hes obviously good. I am sure i will be getting him very early on
