How big is a nucleus/core, I'd consider it 8-12 players.

We would need to find 4-6 more 18-23 year olds to add to Worpel, Day, Scrimshaw and Hardwick.

Already on our list hopefully Maginness and Lewis can establish themselves at the level, land Hollands with pick 4/5, bring in mid teens pick and draft someone like a Henry plus Downie we could have a talent nucleus/core of 9ish.

With the likes of Higgins/Stephenson possible available bringing one of those 2 in could round out the 10.

Nailing the 2021 draft finishes the core.

So a very optimistic look but if everything goes right we could find ourselves in a very good spot by 2022.
I feel a core is more elite talent that you can build around. Only needs to be 7-8 players with another group of role players around them. Only worps and day likely to be in that elite group. Scrimshaw and Lewis might make it (unlikely I feel).

I don’t think Finn will, will be a solid roleplayer much like Hardwick. Just don’t think they have the extra gear. We are slowly building the support cast around a group. Just missing those really elite kids to form our core. Hopefully pick 4 is one of them.

I agree although we are on our way there and closer than some think, if we can have a succesful draft this year we might only need one. Both Worpel,Scrimshaw are steals.

- 3 top 30 picks this draft.
- Day,Finn,Scrimshaw(pick7),Worpel
- 7 players, forming strong core under 21.

Greaves,Moore,Hanrahan,Lewis,Jones,Cousins,Morrison. All played afl footy this year if one or two can take that next step it's a huge bonus. Hopefully add Kosi,Jeka.

Snr core under 27.
Sicily,Hardwick,Impey,Tom,Jom,Wingard,
Frost,Tob.
29 - Gunston,Bruest.
10players.

I know we had a crap year. Let’s not get carried away. We started really strongly and when the changes to the game and the hub happened we just did not adapt. I’m ok with that. Retired was Stratton who was getting carved, poppy lacked score board presence and issac kept kicking into our forward line on top of our forwards heads all the time. We also had the worst short Turnaround record in the year and this impacted the team and resulted in lack of stability.

Tich coming back from a busted leg, impy with a knee and we had a number of young players without consistency due to injury.

We Got games and exposure into day (jet), scrimshaw (learning), greaves (like what I saw), CJ (still a headless cool but amazing speed and jump), big Mitch just banged up and he was really important the tear before. Cuz got a run and looked good. Morris has some tricks and a few More showed they can play. We forget that it takes kids to get to 60-100 games before they really dominate the game and have consistently. We’re 12 months from that across many players. When any of us start a new job we’re not the high performers in years one or two. It takes experience.

Healthy list apart from sis and add more high end talent is huge. Our backline is totally revamped, our forward line has been re vamped and now for the mids. If traleor happened to come our way without giving up high draft picks then yes. Find quality and bring it to the hawks cause clarko uses people’s strengths in the game plan amazing well.

Wright knows his stuff so let’s recruit to take in 2021 and keep Building.

Kelly has a trigger similar to Gaff, tough to see him signing something like that, although a star trying to leave reeks of AFL interference

Those kids at port Adelaide made a fair impact in their second year, a bare couple of dozen games. Of course they need solid players around them. Who knows?

Can't believe a star like Dunkley is going to be let slip by the Dogs!!! Absolute **** up! He is exactly what we need/ want , a midfield bull who kicks goals and on top of all that he's prefered choice is EssnDank??? Wtf is going on ?
Brotherly love

Money talks.
Kyle Dunkley

Left field idea - we are struggling for ruck depth with McEvoy deployed to defense and not longer able to get off the ground and Ceglar with knee issues and Reeves still very raw, what about Brayden Crossley the former Sun who was stood down for a drug related charge. Yes, not an ideal scenario and I caveat it by saying I'm not sure how long his suspension runs (I vaguely recall it may have ended or is about to end) however, on football ability alone he showed plenty on the few games he played for a young player. Had plenty of mongrel in him which is what we need more of present. You would think his motivation would be high and cost us very little in term of draft picks (if any) and would come on minimal $$$.
I know it is very left field but with the state of our playing lost we need to explore all avenues to get better.

No. Dunkley will.

I think the dogs would be nuts to trade him with two years to run on his contract and JUH coming in...what value can they get out of Dodo by releasing him. Doggies need quality talls, which Essendon do not have of any, their talls are a mess.

People think our KPP stocks are bad, have a look at the druggo’s list... Andrew Phillips is their ruckman and James Stewart is their best (only) key forward. Hurley and Hooker are cooked and the cupboard is bare. Great job Dodo.

That's pretty significant though, how many other teams have lost their best player for the season before pre season training has even started ?

Only upside to that bloke is his hot Mum.

I have a zero tolerance towards players who are caught using drugs. I'd rather go into a season with a ruckman at all honestly.

The one we should focus on if dominoes fall correctly is Jordan Sweet from the Bulldogs. To my knowledge he has never played a game. The Dogs are convinced they are in a premiership window and need a fully developed ruck to help English right now. Sweet could just take Pittonets old 'break in case of emergency' position that Brooksby currently occupies. At least he is a chance to develop into something.

If you're going to lose a player you'd want it to be before the pre-season training has even started because you get the opportunity to organise for him not being there. Scrimshaw can play the Sicily role effectively enough.

Sometimes losing an important player can be a circuit breaker for teams, and allows them to do things they wouldn't have done otherwise. Rance was arguably Richmond's most important player before he got injured, they've won 2 premierships since. Similar could be said about Naitanui for West Coast. We lost Buddy to a trade and won 2 after, Adelaide lost Dangerfield and made a Grand Final.

Recent history has a lot of examples where clubs have played better football in spite of losing important players.
