NFL edging ever-closer to solidifying blockchain partnerships

The National Football League (NFL) posted a job listing for a Director of Emerging Products with the role focusing on “emerging areas such as digital products related to blockchain and NFTs.”

It seems that the NFL has at long last pulled the trigger following discussions with potential blockchain partners as far back as March 2021.

However, the delayed rollout has paved the way for individual players to release their own NFTs with Tampa Bay Buccaneer, Rob Gronkowski selling more than $1.6 million worth of digital trading cards of himself. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes also auctioned off more than $3.7 million worth of NFTs. While Tom Brady, launched an NFT platform, Autograph in partnership with Lionsgate and DraftKings.

Craig Reynolds introduced himself in Lions huddle before scoring TD

Posted by Josh Alper on August 14, 2021, 8:06 AM EDT

Running back Craig Reynolds may not wind up making the Lions’ 53-man roster, but his stay in Detroit will include at least one memorable story.

The Lions signed Reynolds after he tried out for the team on Thursday and they put him in the lineup on Friday night against the Bills because they were short on backs with D'Andre Swift out with an injury. There was no practice time between his signing and the game, which meant Reynolds was in an unusual position when he hit the huddle for the first time.

“I introduced myself in the huddle at one point. They were like, ‘Yo, what’s your name?'” Reynolds said, via Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com. “A couple coaches introduced themselves to me on the sideline during the game. It’s definitely crazy, but they’ve just made it real easy. I’ve been comfortable being here.”

Reynolds ran for a 24-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and wound up leading the Lions in rushing with six carries for 49 yards. Head coach Dan Campbell called it an “impressive” showing given the circumstances and Reynolds will now try to keep it going without being anonymous

Which side was he on right or left cos sometimes the switch takes abit of adjustment
He was RT. Like adp said, he was scouted as a beast at run blocking but shaky in pass pro. That showed up. Especially first couple drives. He got better, but he was up against a scrub. When he starts having to deal with the elite pass rushers, hes gonna struggle. The talent is there, just needs to develop.

Good points by Florio especially the last paragraph. Hes more into the visual of it, the limelight, the perception. Otherwise hed do just that -- shut up about it publicly and talk privately with his GM and HC.

They have limited cap space use it on someone else not an over the hill pass rusher

Plus now its final season for rodgers you can just ignore his talk and all roster moves should be for Jordan love era.

Man, pre-season games used to be kind of soft, players not throwing themselves into it 100% but all the games so far have been pretty full on. This Miami - Chicago game oof hitting each other hard. Montgomery already off winded (ribs?) after a brutal hit

Tua been going deep 99% of throws. 1 screen pass, the rest deep shots. Been on target and decisive. One guy dropped a catch, it was such a beautiful difficult deep throw too. One pass he threw it away due to pressure.

First drive for Fields, couple of checkdowns, just trying to get his feet wet, false starts put them back in the endzone. Hes raw, wont start the season. Looks like a rookie, hesitant, trying to read stuff, needs time. But he was fine, no shitty mistakes or decisions.
