ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Carson Wentz's foot injury is "not expected to be season-ending."
Wentz is visiting with a specialist before determining the next steps. The Colts have already ruled him out for the rest of the preseason and are bracing for surgery. Wentz, who has both bone and ligament damage, is very likely looking at an extended absence. Second-year QB Jacob Eason took over the first team offense with Wentz sidelined and could open the season as the Colts' starter.

Patriots QB Jarrett Stidham underwent surgery to repair a back injury.
The Patriots have a three-month timetable for Stidham, ruling him out for the rest of training camp and the first few weeks of the regular season. It doesn't change much in New England's quarterback plans, as Stidham was behind Cam Newton and rookie Mac Jones. New England claimed QB Jake Dolegala off waivers from the Packers to compete with Brian Hoyer for the No. 3 job.

Tell me why he's bad

Hes not bad, hes just overrated. He drops too many passes imo. Plays too nice at times. Was talking bout it in the Panthers thread. His catch rate was something like 185th in the NFL last year.

Hes a good #2 receiver but not a true #1. Id rather keep Robby Anderson, better value for money compared to what wed have to pay DJ. Big believer in Terrace Marshall becoming a true WR1.

49ers signed TE Jordan Matthews.
Matthews, who appeared in two games for the 49ers last year, will move to tight end as he looks to resurrect his career. The 49ers are hoping Matthews can be insurance for George Kittle, who's missed 10 games the past two seasons. Matthews joins a crowded but unproven depth chart of Charlie Woerner, Ross Dwelley, MyCole Pruitt, and UDFA Josh Pederson behind Kittle.

Raiders RB Theo Riddick announced his retirement.
One of the mid-aughts' most impactful receiving backs, Riddick registered at least 50 receptions in four consecutive seasons from 2015-18 with the Lions, posting a career-high 80 (with 697 receiving yards) in 2015. He set career highs in carries (92) and yards (357) the following year in just 10 appearances. Although he closed his career in two short stints with the Broncos and Raiders, Riddick will always be remembered as a member of Detroit's organization.

Cardinals “like” having Kyler Murray’s input in personnel decisions

Tom Brady had to change teams before he had any say in personnel decisions; it took Aaron Rodgers 17 seasons and an offseason power play before he got the Packers reluctantly to trade for a receiver of his choice; and Russell Wilson has made clear his desire to have a seat at the management table.

The Cardinals already are asking for input from their third-year quarterback, with coach Kliff Kingsbury saying Friday that Kyler Murray has earned that right.
“Those guys have as good a feel for players, players’ personalities, and talent as any of us because they have been on the field and they have worked with them,” Kingsbury said, via Darren Urban of the team website. “I do think that goes a long way. I like, and [General Manager] Steve [Keim] is the same way, we talk to Kyler about different players he likes, whether it be receivers, linemen, and we like having that dialogue. Give you a different perspective.”

Murray appreciated Rodgers’ news conference earlier this week. He also appreciated Kingsbury’s comments Friday, though Murray was quick to note he has a long way to go before coming close to doing what Rodgers has.

“Coach Kingsbury, he played quarterback, so I think he understands it,” Murray said. “You like to have a say in what goes on. You like to have a say in guys you’d want to play with, because at the end of the day, we’re the ones on the field. We go through it. We see it every day. We know who is good.

“We can only give our opinion. It is what it is. They can take it and run with it however they may.”

Slay, who played for the Lions from 2013 through 2019 until he was traded to the Eagles in 2020, told reporters today that he isn’t particularly excited about the Eagles-Lions game.

“No, not anymore,” Slay said. “If Patricia was there still, I would’ve been very excited.”

After he was traded to the Eagles, Slay said he had no respect for the way Patricia dealt with players. Patricia is now in New England, and Slay and the Eagles won’t see him this year.

The one problem with BFs dark mode is the text is a little too dark. On twitter, reddit, youtube, etc, the font is a little lighter making it easier to read.
