What will they write on all the boards in all the leagues clubrooms next to 2020?
Did not play
A dash -
Or leave it off all together?
2019
2021

If players have found other interests by the time 2021 season ramps up the numbers could be dire, if they arn't already.

I agree. Numbers will be a huge factor next season.
Personally I hope it forces some mergers. This won’t be a popular opinion but my reasoning is based on -
Lots of clubs currently already struggle to field a Reserves Side.
Lots of clubs are struggling financially.
There has been enormous success with mergers in the Hume League in recent seasons.
Kids aren’t desperate for footy at the moment so I can’t see numbers improving for a while.

I think with reduction of teams and the reduction of the salary cap there is a real chance we could get back to Community Football with less stress on volunteers due to mergers (less home games per Country town), less financial pressure and less pressure on player numbers.

I see some clubs have floated golf days, song & dance competitions, other activities allowed by guidelines to keep groups engaged & somewhat together. Then others with little to no communication at all with playing groups. Will it make a difference? If coaches are not getting $ or comitted/signed for 2021 is it their responsibility really?

You’ll find the successful clubs are the ones making an effort, and the guys who are serious about their footy are the ones buying in.
If the coaches aren’t committed then they should be moved on.

Anyone know what’s going on with the league?
Apparently there was a vote a couple weeks ago and majority of club said they didn’t want to play.
If we don’t play could be a great opportunity for some clubs to really look at their futures, look at mergers, swap leagues etc
This could be a blessing in disguise for country footy

The League are bowing to Pressure from the O and M is what I read in to all of it.
They wont make a decision until the O and M are happy to make theirs

Just got wind that Rick Whitehead isn't liking it over in the west and its set to be back at chiltern next year...
If true their adjacent arch rivals may have to open up that coin purse again to keep with the pace, although I’ve heard there aren’t too many dollars left.
No doubt if Whitehead is in the area Chiltern would be the only club he’d play at now, was very happy there.
Believe it when I see it.

do you guys think the Tallangatta League will get going this Season
I think it could, but the main sticking points will be the restrictions put in place. I completely understand teams who are right in with a chance at a flag willing to go to any lengths, but as for others, there is a real lack of motivation. The season will be starting right about the time those out of contention are kind of looking forward to finishing up. Will they be willing to clean out and disinfect rooms, count people coming into the ground, buy personalised water bottles? Not to mention all the other hoops to jump through. I really think a lot of teams will struggle to field 2s sides as well.

Do people want it to go ahead??

I think getting twos sides will be a serious issue too. On the flip side, if the league doesn’t play I bet a lot of strong players will find their way to the O&M Clubs. The risk is they don’t come back.
My guess is some clubs would be super keen to play and some might be praying it doesn’t go ahead.

Victoria will reimpose restrictions after recording another 25 new coronavirus cases.

From midnight tomorrow household gatherings will be restricted to a maximum of five guests, and public gatherings will have a limit of 10 people.

Game, set, match. Cya 2021 TDFL.

I blame Connor McKenna🤬

Who’s going to want to coach the Wodonga saints? I think it’s the perfect time for them to become instinct with the upper Murray withering, surely a restructure will occur.
At least the upper Murray will have a good loyal support base and some decent players, something the saints have never had. Hearing Rutherglen will barely field a side, hopefully they pick up a couple.

Great point. I think it’s sad but the region can not sustain the amount of teams we currently have.
For this reason it will be great to see an Upper Murray Merger, a Corowa Cluster merger and the Saints either fold or merge. Clubs like Mitta would also be finding it tougher now too.
If there are some mergers and clubs go into recession it could mean hundreds of players could find their way into clubs that have been desperately short of numbers and it could reinvigorate footy in this district.

I’m hearing there has already been a Coach locked in And some new recruits already signed.
