Ok. thought you could just forward on to another person but I haven't tried it for our own membership tickets. I have forwarded the guest tickets
That's what we do and will be doing that this weekend.
Son's going OS for the weekend.
Much prefer the Lanyards and the season pass though.
One thing I have noticed when you get the GA people sitting in your seat , because you don't have a season pass around your neck they will look at you funny as if you are lying , when you say excuse me mate these are our seats. Yes these two Mother F..er.
I had to repeat myself a few times to one guy and explain this is our season ticket . F...d if I was going to get my phone out though and prove it.
I don't mind people from GA playing pot luck at sitting out of the GA areas and in someone elses seat , but why look surprised when they have to move , just move on and try elsewhere, or get to the game early enough to get a seat in GA.
They left. It has happened a couple of times. It does make it easier for everyone, when you can show them a physical ticket without fuss.

Maybe I can finally get my Gold Lanyard next year.

Digital memberships suck for families. I've tried transferring them to my phone, and it seems 50/50 whether it transfers successfully, and then when we get there everyone has to sit while I cycle through passes on the one phone instead of each of us scanning their own and moving in and out of the way

Digital ticketing is a pain when dealing with a transfer to people who lack skills with the Digital world. This may come as a surprise to millenials and younger but many people over 50 don't use Digital devices in their work or have no desire to learn how it all works once they have retired. They don't have a Lions or Ticketmaster account to transfer to and the MMS option is very shakey. I have honestly given up trying to transfer tickets to some of my friends. The fallback is to download yourself then take a screenshot and send that as message. It's very easy for 10 to 20% of the audience to just give up and watch it on TV. Those at the AFL who make these decisions need to consider their whole client base not just those in their age and skill demographic.

These membership numbers are all wank at the end of the day. There was a deal recently for 3 game Saints membership for $40. If I were a Melbourne based Lions fan I would totally take that deal knowing I would be going to one game at least (Saints v Lions). I also got a complimentary Giants membership in 2019 somehow after going to one game (vs Lions). Home ground average attendance at the end of the season is the most telling figure. How many people are willing to invest the time and money to attend a game would give a better clue without all the obfuscating clubs do with cheap membership promotions.

I saw this on the Lions website in MyLions membership section, is that normal procedure? It is part of the Membership package that you get a certain amount of free guest passes, we got a total of 18 free passes to games this season, we had 8 left to use and intended to use them for the Demons game.... bugger.

Please note that there are no free guest passes to be redeemed for the following Blockbuster matches:
Round 23
v. Melbourne Demons

Yea it’s normal.

When I first joined as a full member I remember reading that you can’t use the free tickets for games they class as likely sold out blockbusters.

Looks like you'll be stuck trying to use them for the Carlton game.

I thought that game was one they wouldn’t have allowed the free tickets to be used either. Being a big Melbourne club.
I had a look at the tickets earlier to the Carlton game and there isn’t many left. A few single seats and 1 or 2 sections where there is a group of seats together but not many.

Ticketek must block out sections prior to a closer date and i am not talking about any pre Carlton or any opposition allocation
So how many people check early but don't come back later to recheck
I have been critical of how Ticketek sell AFL Gabba tickets for a few years. Especially during the 2 covid years. The Government kept changing the allocations but Ticketek never got close to the new capacity numbers

Lions have not gone close to a sellout this year
Of course people may not be going because of Covid but they can give their seats to someone else
However i imagine those numbers would not exceed 1000 at a guess
The Pies game was supposed to be a sellout 7 days out from the event
Corporate numbers and Gabba Cricket Members that turn up are dependent on expectations.
So better opposition get better attendance in those arears.

Only Ticketek would know how many seats could have been sold but were not in the so called sell out games over the years

IIRC a sell out includes Gabba and Cricketer Club members.... most of them probably don't show up or pass on their seats.

The Gabba has an official capacity of 42,000, the largest crowd the Lions have ever had at the Gabba >

The record crowd for an Australian rules football match is 37,473 between the Brisbane Lions and Richmond in the 2019 second qualifying final.

Saleable capacity is only about 38-39,000 when you take out seats lost for the verandah and seats beside the replay screens or behind the benches with restricted views of the field.

I understand all that and did mention about Gabba & Cricket Club Menbers
As Mr Ripper also mentioned capacity is closer to 38/39 K. I would say 38 K myself

My reply was about the very few tickets available when Dalions had a look at ticket sales and indicated that very few are left for sale.
I will almost guarantee Ticketek have blocked out sections for the time being
When they finally get around to releasing more seats lots of peoples interest may wane for some reason or other

Lets see if it gets past the 32,312 of the Pies sold out game
With 29k at the Bombers on a Sunday and this one to have finals implications for both teams, I expect it will. Or atleast be around the mark.

According to Ticketmaster the game against Carlton is a sell out already.

Is the bloke in the 4th photo on the right, Marcus Adams Father or Brother or something?

29k for the Bombers game was a good crowd

I believe the AFL's free kids for a month had a lot to do with that number and the previous weeks game also
The promotion ran during rounds 14-17
This promotion came at a good time for Lions being our home game rounds were 16 & 17.
Being Queensland school holiday time helped also. Most likely school holidays in other states during that month period

Games on a Thursday evening (excluding Easter) & Sunday afternoon games are usually not good crowd pullers
Round 16 v Dogs THURSDAY evening 25,011
Round 17 v Bombers SUNDAY afternoon 29,101

So i think the AFL got that promotion right

I was unaware that the Lions were this well regarded in the "most supported AFL team" list
We did however drop -5.9% this year but still in 5th place
Still it's a little hard to believe we sit in this high position
Maybe why our membership has had a decent increase over the years along with winning of course

Sydney always wins this and we're always up there. It's a simple fact for having a large city all to ourselves (or at least for 30 years in Sydney's case).
