I feel like most teams have a de-facto player that they give the votes to if the team has won and they don't know who really stood out. Cripps is definitely ours.

Who knew that umpires, who are already tasked with watching every contest closely and needing to adjudicate the actual game, don't always walk away with the greatest sense of which players were most impacting the result.

I mean it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the coaches votes mean so, so much more (or at least they should) does it?

It's time to admit we've attached the prestige to the wrong award here. Perhaps it made sense once, but certainly not anymore.
