Equivalent to pick 2. Was drafted at pick 3. Happy with that33, 6 and 15 for Jackson, 42 and 57
It was actually 33, 7 and 15 for Jackson, 42 and 5733, 6 and 15 for Jackson, 42 and 57
At least they balance out the incredibly dumb stuff with some real genius moves like having us play our round 1 game in the second week of the season.I can’t be bothered going into all the why and why not BUT the way it’s all compromised is certainly a massive question mark.
How can players be bid matched for some, not bid match inside 40, winky wink deals. It’s all BS.
It’s such a wonderful game but flawed by such obvious discrepancies such as fixtures, drafts, home and away games etc.
Mini rant over.
Collard will ask for a trade next year, and he'll be on compassionate leave on multiple occasions before then.
We have been smart in stacking up with 3 R1 picks next year. They are the only thing in the draft worth anything nowadays.
In old money, we only have a first and two early to mid seconds next year but on paper we have 3 first rounders.
Second round picks are not worth s**t anymore. Same value as old third rounders which is borderline junk territory when only 53 or so players are picked and the second round will go to pick 50.
One thing that URGENTLY needs changing is the points valine index. Nothing beyond pick 45 should be worth anything. Pick 46 should be zero points and if a bid comes after that you just rematch it with the next available pick.
All these teams using picks in the 50s to get guys in the teens when only 53 players or so will be picked in the entire draft is just wrong. In effect, these players are just free.
WCE will take O'Driscoll now, just because
As far as I'm concerned, we'll never have the same benefits from F/S and academies as clubs currently do so rip the band-aid now....and any rule change has to come with retroactive penalties to bring the clubs who have benefited for the last five years into line with the clubs going to the well for their turn next draft.

There is also never going to be retroactive penalties / changes, we both know that BUT if they were going to do it, it'd have to be as a "benefit" not a "penalty" like Freo can draft under existing rules for 10 more years or something
Possible solutions to fixing bids (all forms of bids)
1) Remove the discount (non-negotiable)
2) Limit of one bid match a round
3) Either you must have a pick in the round you match a bid or within 10 picks of the placed bid (this and 2 basically completely fixes how compromised it's become).
4) Only GC or GWS can match a top 10 bid (I am ok with those two clubs getting A BIT of help)
5) Possibly add tiers to the F/S matching. 300 games, can match any pick, 200 games outside the top 10, 100 games outside the top 20. I do really like kids of club legends playing at their dads club
Would be less than we pay for Logan ‘MacDonald.Equivalent to pick 2. Was drafted at pick 3. Happy with that
Too late now, but games qualification for father-son should have started lower for newer clubs, increasing gradually yearly until it gets the same as older teams when we’ve been around for long enough. As far as I'm concerned, we'll never have the same benefits from F/S and academies as clubs currently do so rip the band-aid now.

Reading your post I actually just realised that we've basically got to an almost worst system then we used to have where it was just the next pick, I mean, on today's results, Sydney OVERPAID for Heeney at 3 with pick 18 or whatever it was. Here’s my idea.
People enter the draft and can be picked up by anyone.
Anyone ‘tied’ to a club, for father-son or academies can be picked up by the club with their original pick in the draft. They must be PRE selected and that pick is then absorbed and gone. That player is effectively removed from the draft, but so is the pick.
The club can only use 1 pick per round AND it must be their original selection.
Now I of course haven’t overly thought it out but the main point is: You can’t trade out picks to point match, this is a ridiculous system. If you do trade out your pick you have effectively said you don’t wish to add the player to your team.
Gold Coast this year was an absolute balls up of pick shuffling.
With my system they simply pick up the 4 players with their original first rounder, 2nd rounder, 3rd rounder and 4th rounder.
I know what I’m trying to do but probably explained that terribly.
