To be fair, the numbers have been a joke for some time now.
How long before single game tickets get packaged as a 1 game membership?

I still remember a few years ago with Collingwood: Buy a guernsey from the club shop and get a 1 game membership.

GWS make 2 million from Membership & Merchandise. That is terrible, there would be a lot of small businesses that would do better than that.

Say, $300k - $400k in merchandise ? $1.6m in membership revenue works out around $50 generated by each member. Which, when their cheapest three games Adult memberships is $95, can’t possibly add up. So, unless all of their members are children signing up without their parents, means that the 32k figure is made up. and they actually have around 15k members.

I cannot see when GWS will become viable as a club with those poor figures and lack of support in Sydney.

Hawthorn have been trying to give away discounted memberships and match tickets across the eastern suburbs, it's really picked up in the last month or two, emails, social media advertising etc.

Looking at the latest chart, having <60k members is quite a whack for them.

Raz, we can’t talk. As of yesterday EFC is 77,668. That's about -3,500 compared to same time last year. Granted, poor 2022 and turbulent off season the driver, still means we probably aren’t the only club who has much work ahead to reengage a frustrated base.

Economic factors suggest next year will be leaner still for memberships. You'd want an older, established fanbase.

I think you might be right, but next year might stop more new members signing up and more medium term (5-year) impacts than short term. Footy is still relatively cheap as an outing. Beers inside Docklands and MCG are cheaper than beers on Swan Street.

I know I’m annoyed with our numbers. Geelong are still ahead of us I take it? We have more going for us than Blues at the moment yet they’re smashing us (I get it they started well) with their membership numbers and that shows how far behind we have gone this year.

Carltons membership reflects a rebirth in 2022 and expectations of arriving for real in 2023. Membership growth lags on field success, Essendon’s figure will respond accordingly if it exits this year on a high. Time will tell. Broadly, the base is still hurting from what transpired last year and this time, unlike previous seasons, it wants absolute confirmation it’s reborn. For this year, it is what it is.

Hawks don’t have less than 60k members. We had 50k auto renewals last November. We just haven’t done the update thing in years. Will be 75k-80k like we are every year.
