Mmm but none of them have the tank that Bray has. He'll just work them into the ground. As FBI said, anyone can tag - so I'm only concerned about those with genuine taggers. 2 out of 3 of Mills, Bray and Touk for me at the moment :)
If you're genuinely worried about a tag then the only play is to target blokes who don't get tagged. There's no good way to accurately predict who will and won't clamp down on, and whether a tag will be successful, on a particular player. If you're worried about it, then focus on non-tagged fantasy studs like Dunkley, Keays, Mitchell, Macrae, Guthrie etc who won't be first targeted at their clubs. Otherwise you just need to run the gauntlet.

Before we start getting pre-season data, one of the key things I look for is back half of the year performance as an indicator for coming in strong to a new role or added responsibility. Extract below is from my shortlist sorted by highest differential in the first half as opposed to second half of the season (from the Byes and beyond).

Josh Ward, Conor Rozee, LDU, Cogs, Laird, Richards, Salem, Daicos, and McCluggage are a few of the names that pop out to me. Anyone have a favourite from this lot or have I missed anyone (my shortlist only has roughly 280 relevant players)

Ignore the projections at this stage, they're just chicken scratch at this stage.

Also ignore the Wingard highlighting.

Looks great. Would love to get my hands on a copy of the spreadsheet if you're willing.

A couple of potential noob questions from the last few posts...

1) Is Holmes likely to take more of Selwood's role? How did Tim Kelly score in that set up? (Potentially not relevant but he's the name that jumps to mind seeing as he finished top 3 in the Brownlow with similar players around him.)

2) How relevant is looping and fixtuting to your premo decisions? I've read Gold Coast and Fremantle have easier draws to open the season but Carlton play on a different day to four teams through the first four rounds, the most of any team with a player that averaged 110 in 2022.

He's on my watch list, and could very well push AA squad if he continues on his current trajectory from last year. Was the highest rated wingman in the comp for the second half of the year, and has traits that very few others possess.

Danger wasn't saying he IS Judd like, more that he COULD get there given the very rare skillset he possesses.

Most players have either elite speed or elite endurance, but Max has both. His disposal under pressure has increased dramatically, and he has a burst from the contest that is Danger like. He needs to work on his decision making, but that improved a lot last year too - and will come with increased size to stand up in the contest.

He likely will never reach the heights of Judd, but he has the traits to make him a very good player if he continues building as quickly as he has. I was mocked by some for calling him Danger with better kicking (early Danger at the Crows when skinnier), but a lot on our board have come around to it after his dramatic improvement last year.

As the premiers, we have some talented young players, but you ask anyone on our board and they'll tell you who they think has the most upside of any player and who could become a superstar - the consensus is Max Holmes.
I would love that ;) Went too early on Holmes but you did give me that warning

1) Beware of media articles this time of the year ....they can destroy your team selections .....trust the science of numbers / roles

Holmes could be another 2-3 seasons away from Dnagerfields prediction .....I'm still reeling from Nick Reiwoldts prediction of Hunter Clarke being a SUPERSTAR of 2023

So embarrassed was Reiwoldt at the failure of that similar call to Dangerfield ......he's gone into excile

2. Fixtures are rated on last seasons ladder finish's .....I find looking at fixtures as a bit of a waste

However, some premo's traditionally start seasons strong (Neale) ....whereas some work into the season (Oliver)

As part of your planning, look at which players may get DPP after R5 .....Gawn will be one

Hard to work this out, till we have some PS games for role changes

If there's a tag he will destroy all 3 of them. Saints the only one who is a minor worry...but no-one from North or WC comes to mind when thinking of decent taggers
We just delisted our tagger who clamped Brayshaw very well last year.

Why would saints want to tag brayshaw not like he was dominated against them last season or anything. ;)

He just scored 181 and lazy 144 pts.

Any thoughts on Sicily in defence with how bad hawks are going to be this year ball will be down that end alot i reckon ?

He's a complete campaigner

Ohhh fantasy terms I think he's pretty closed to full priced surely, will he be a top 6 defender?

Brayshaw Doc Sinclair Dawson McGrath Stewart

That's before you get some random get defence status especially with rumours of Thomas moving into defence, Young blossoming, Ellis playing a better role with Weller etc back, Bowes getting games for Geelong, Salem going back to 90

On McGrath, what do you see his role down back being like from a Fantasy perspective?

Will he play as that rebounding defender or deeper?

That's the worry with Redman Heppell Hind Massimo someones going to miss out and McGrath is elite as a lockdown defender

I just don't know if we will make him lock down I'm torn to be honest

As most of us suspected, they f*cked something up and now 'hopefully we're playing with our teams in a week or so.' That 'hopefully' doesn't fill me with confidence, gotta say.

Will be interesting if we hit mid Jan and still nothing...as that will no longer be early Jan, and will be more than a month since SC opened. A lot more people will start getting antsy if that's the case.

Maybe they could tell us what the issue is, so we can give them the solution/s.
