During the game, essentially saying ingles should be in the corner taking the shots & players like Thybulle should be setting screens/blocks. We had the wrong guys in the wrong spots. Tbh ingles looked like a zombie, he didn't play with any competitiveness.
silly question, was that on another feed/station?

Not sure how much Simmons is going to improve the team when we don't have the shooters to surround him. Unless Giddey becomes the secondary ball handler? Simmons although can play 5 isn't a proper big. He's your primary ball handler/slasher. We need shooters & legit bigs. Hoping the likes of Green/Exum/Daniels can improve their shooting.

Landale
Simmons
Green
Mills
Giddey
Simmons has snippets of being a okay catch and shot guy. Can easily snag a couple in the corner but would need to be willing to shoot.

For mine this was always on the cards after seeing Goorjian's utterly inept rotations and borderline senile effort against Germany.

But yeah, make no mistake, when you consider the number of things that went Australia's way and the wealth of talent we had available this was a total shameful failure. Terrible outcome caused entirely by Basketball Australia's decision to entrust its team to a ****ing idiot.

To have a talented experienced team built around an nba all star calibre point goard capable of play making, rebounding and powering to the basket, that is a once in a decade opportunity and we totally blew it.

Rocco Zikarsky

Could be our next legit big. I have nfi about him though. It's either this or Bogut imo
Bogut would require two guys to carry him up and down the court Weekend at Bernie's style, his body is cooked. Rocco is only 17, so unless he comes on at light speed he won't be playing in Paris.

Loss by 2 v Germany. Got to 2 v Slovenia. That’s how close it was.
Goorj then just shat himself.
Reath must feel filthy all tournament.

So who should replace Goorjian as head coach?

The Olympic team my thoughts are:
Giddey/Mills
Exum/Daniels/Vasiljevic
Green/Thybulle
Simmons/White/Maker
Landale/Reath

Simmons won't play. No Cooks is crazy, he's been great.

Feel like Giddey, Mills, Green, Cooks, Reath worked.

Just didn’t play that rotation enough.
Ingles and Kay were the go to guys. So out of form. That sucks.

If and that Kay is the go to guy then we’re in trouble.

And I’m a Kay fan

100%.
It wasn’t working since the first game. Yet persisted like the two were going to suddenly get Tokyo form.

There’s so much more on the bench.
Goulding in the corner. Exum can shoot. White and Daniels can be dynamic.
Kay got killed in the paint nearly every game

I wouldn't be so sure on Simmons, he is recovering from back surgery but appears to be feeling better.

He is willing to play, but he has to be willing to play a role. But, the Boomers culture is strong enough to call him out and punt him for any primadonna shit if needed.

He would have been useful this tournament, we had no one to pull down rebounds. He would have hit some passes and played some great D which would have helped both against Germany and Slovenia.

There was always a plausible excuse for him not playing for Australia. Just drafted, needed to work on his game, needing to do the right thing to get a supermax contract, injured. Not great excuses, but plausible.

Now his name is mud both in the NBA and internationally, he needs the national team more than it needs him to rehabilitate his image.
