Not sure if WC right up is good for us or not. There will absolutely be some teething problems with a complete new gameplan, so I'd almost rather play WC later in the season when the players have adjusted. But on the other hand, a softer start to the draw (a nice 4-5 week block of weak/average teams) would make adjusting to that gameplan easier.

But on the other hand… a round 1 win instead of a belting will be incredible

I: Phillips, T Powell, Coleman-Jones, Ziebell (if we’re being honest, he’s probably in for round 1 at least, but Goater or Young here would probably really suit us better down back for this one)

I: Cole, Chesser, Waterman, BWilliams

I think we have a solid list on paper, but that’s the key words. It remains to be seen how/whether Clarko can fully harness the potential of this list and if he can, how long will that take.

In this one, I think we have the edge in the middle, and if LDU/Simpkin can consistently perform at levels anywhere near what we saw against Adelaide last season, our forwards will be salivating. We could look very dangerous and hopefully be in for a big score at home.

Conversely, I don’t feel like the matchups down back look right for us (I’ve just inputted the best 22 from each team) so it might need a bit of tweaking, but there is scope there for their smalls especially to kick a few on us. Ziebell or maybe CCJ for Goater or Young would be ideal cover, but I just can’t see Clarkson doing that.

IMO, it really is dependent on Clarko’s system that he’ll have in place and how quickly the boys can learn to implement it in game, as I think most of the pieces of a decent team are pretty much there already. Obviously being at home against last years’ 17th placed side, I think we’re a good chance and I hope the boys come out all guns blazing. Can’t believe I’ve tabled a round 1 preview of sorts in early December, but that’s how much I’m looking forward to our new dawn. Interested to hear anyone else’s thoughts on this one!

…well it’s not like they have to adjust that much going on the 2022 Game Plan. But yeh I hear you
