Obviously pre the christmas break

COLLINGWOOD

Running

Who else but Nick Daicos? The precocious Pie dominated the 2km time trial when the first-to-fourth years returned. However, he left the training track the following week with what assistant coach Hayden Skipworth said was Achilles soreness.

Yes ...I can understand the rationale too, even though it's rare a 2nd year player doesn't regress slightly
I'm not sure that's true. I'd say it's more they don't improve enough to be a good SC pick at their start price.

I'd argue Daicos should be judged differently. He's a different class to most players. I've posted both Macrae and Noah's scores scores recently, and they both improved significantly in their second years. Fyfe the same, Bont, Clayton Oliver too. There are enough examples of the highly rated juniors being good second year picks for me to take the chance on Little Nicky.

King - The 22-year-old isn't expected to be available for the first month of the season at this stage, but was on the track for the first 30 minutes of Friday's session completing a running session in a sling before heading inside

Jack Hayes is also closing on a return to full fitness after his eye-catching debut season

Zak Jones strained his calf over the break and isn't expected to return to the main group until next month

Tom Campbell is dealing with Achilles soreness and won't return to full fitness until closer to March

Nick Coffield underwent hamstring surgery before Christmas after suffering a setback in his recovery from an ACL reconstruction

I think we can cross Coffield off the list for Round 1

RUMOUR ONLY

Darcy Cameron hasn't trained the last 2 weeks

Comment BuckleysBrigade , Raveneyes , Dazjack , Obese Arachnid
From today's training report on the Magpies Board:

Darcy Cameron missing in action on Thursday, was also absent. He apparently was granted leave to attend his brother’s wedding, presumably in Western Australia but he hasn’t resurfaced yesterday.

Collingwood cruelled by Kreuger injury

Collingwood have suffered a cruel injury setback to start the new year with luckless big man Nathan Kreuger forced to have a shoulder reconstruction after injuring his right arm at training prior to the holiday break

Kreuger was spotted at Collingwood training on Monday with his arm in a sling and is not expected to line up for the Pies until at least six weeks into their 2023 season.

Fin Macrae will start running again in the coming weeks after suffering a stress issue in his back late last year

“Fin Macrae has been working through a stress-related back issue and the plan is for him to be back running within the next couple of weeks.

Mason Cox has him tied up in his basement.

If it's a metatarsal injury, then it can heal quickly or take a long time, depending on how bad he did it.

I snapped a metartarsal a few years back, and needed surgery under the general to put in some steel to help it heal properly.
Hurt like a mf'er for weeks.
Also took a long damn time to heal, and had to wear a moonboot for 12 weeks as the damn thing kept swelling and causing pain.

Kreuger isn't best 22 is he? Or does this give a rookie a chance?
