The first team this year to at least take any points away from a meeting with Zim's Puppy turned bulldogs. Thought we could've very easily won if the umps just weren't so s*** but that's often the case. Proud of my wombats, we're at least providing challenges to most teams even if we're very inconsistant. I thought Jones choosing to get injured w just 5 touches was a bit of an iffy decision but that's footy. GG Zim^zuM

Yeah I think it just counts as a clanger but not a free against. Deliberate OOB would've been a F.A I think.

Before we go through the annual drama of the mid-season draftees, is there a plan/rule in place for those interested (like a mini-draft) we sorted out last year? I can't remember it.

Think its just reverse ladder order and waivers in this league. The trick to getting a good mid season draftee is to not trade them to Rockford when u nail the pickup.

yeah it happens. I had so many mid prospects at the time and now i have so few coz half of them have flopped. I was pretty torn about trading Newcombe but I did get J Jones out of the trade who looks like he'll be a B22 defender for many years so that's something. Still prob my worst trade in this league though, you win some you lose some

Sure am regretting not taking Weddle with my 2nd pick. Tried to pry him from Drew but he was having none of it. Didnt need another fwd, now i have so many fowards. if anyone wants a fwd, either a young prospect like Clarke or a ready made guy like Hipwood or Hayward etc. or someone like Matt Kennedy for a def, young mid or draft capital HMU. At least i seem to have found a good couple good defenders at last with Mitchell and Wilmot, along with Jones and Young i now have 4 good defenders. Only need a couple more and then i can focus on rebuilding my lackluster midfield.

looks like u stole it. Accuracy and frees are always up for grabs and uve won 2 of 3 by the look of it which is the difference. Was a battle between 2 mediocre sides lol and an 8 point game for the race for 8th spot or a higher draft pick. U mightve cost urself a chance at Harley Reid though,

Haha. When you’re rebuilding losing isn’t the worst thing. However it’s really pleasing to see some of my young mids coming along. I’ll take the wins and not worry about who’s going pick 1 after having pick 2 the last 2 drafts.
My experience with pick 1, Schache, Rayner and Petracca. Maybe some poor selections on my part but I pick 2/3 car can generally be just as good.
It's a tiny bit easier at 1 coz u get to pick the no-brainer guys like Ashcroft and Daicos but there isn't always one of those guys. I got Rowell and Lukosius with my no1s while zim got Walsh and Anderson at 2 and i know which combo id rather. Most years it wont make a huge difference, it's pretty rare for there to be someone like Daicos and there's always plenty of value with picks 2-7, it just becomes a tiny bit harder with those picks.

JHF and Sheez should be excellent for a very long time. I like having top picks but it’s nice to get a couple of wins this season after a tough 2022. Pick 4 or 5 or whatever will suit me just fine if my side keeps competing against the teams around it on the ladder.
I’ve got Wright, Brodie, Cumming, Culley, Ward, Windhager, Thilthorp, Bowes and Jones to come back in and have George, Sheldrick and a few other highly rated guys to break in over the next 12 months as well.
Feel I’ve got something to work with and still some assets to trade for picks potentially this season.
Yeah its better to win than rely on picks, generally if you're losing it means your picks from previous years arent developing which my team is testament to. Very disappointing year so far with so many players i rated highly not coming on and if it continues im gonna find myself having to rebuild all over again as Allen, Cerra, Smith, Rowell etc. get into their prime without a proper supporting cast. Still have time yet as no one is over 24 but my picks in the 8-25 type range have been mostly pretty average and its really hurting my team.

Picks are still a lottery. Daicos notwithstanding, there’s almost always going to be a better fantasy option that goes at a later pick, sometimes comically so.. I took Jack Martin at P1 in the draft that Bontempelli went at P10 
Ashcroft and JHF from his draft are going to be great players and fantasy relevant, but it could end up Jhye Clark, who a heap of us passed on, is the standout fantasy option across both drafts. Selecting Ashcroft, JHF, Lukosius etc.. wasn’t the wrong option. Jack Martin might’ve been the wrong option though
