And he didn't "smash" him in the head, he was virtually stationary before chasing the ball that the sheepdog had hit away.

Did anyone see Riolis mark and how he kicked Swallow in the chest? That is more "rough conduct" than Cunningtons. I'm really fuming if we do not contest this. It was bad enough the club didn't challenge when his legs got caught under Ablett last year

Roos' football staff were in Tasmania on Monday for the club's community camp as they considered their options. While it's believed the Roos think the collision looked incidental, the club feels it would be too risky to contest the ban.

North have thought about challenging the careless aspect of the charge, but are cognisant of a player's duty of care to protect the ball carrier, which would likely work against the 2014 Syd Barker medallist.

Should North accept the penalty, Cunnington would miss the club's round one clash against West Coast at Etihad Stadium. Cunnington would miss the round two game against Geelong at Etihad if North decide to head to the tribunal and are unsuccessful. The club has until 11am on Tuesday to decide whether it will contest the charge.

The MRP graded the incident as careless conduct with medium impact to the head

Careless that the other player was on the ground? Not Ben's fault...both players just going for the ball.

If they are gonna give players 'weeks' for an accidental incident like that. The MRP are then obligated to give NM/Ben Cunnington examples of what else he could have done to win the ball.

The whole plead early for a reduced sentence is just the MRPs way of looking like they are making the right decisions. Guaranteed if it was a 2 weeker decision we would be appealing without question.

I really can't understand why we wouldn't.
Exactly. If the appeal doesn't get up we play a kid for another week. Yah don't go arseholing seasoned footballers in order to push through the next generation but then be loathe to actually pump games into the kids. Grow a set Joyces and contest. :stern look

Duryea wasn't the "ball carrier" the ball was loose on the ground.

Ball carrier? Duryea did everthing but carry the ball.

Seen it at both angles over 20 times and i cant see how Cunners would get off. For starters Dureya was alteady there and Cunners ran in with out any intent for the ball. His hands are not going for the ball.

As shit as it is, its a suspension under the rules.

He gets off because Duryea contributes more to the impact than Cunners does. Collisions happen in sport all the damn time. Watch it again and pause 1sec before impact. Duryea looks like he is going to maintain the direction he is going in, then swings hard right and lunges to hit the ball away....
