Lol.. yesterday had a slightly healthier alternative

grilled olive oil and garlic marinated eggplant stack sandwiched with tonnato sauce (blitzed tuna, mayo, lemon juice, anchovies , garlic, white wine, herbs). Took only a bit longer than a good toastie) Would be a big time calorie counter had I chucked in some grano Padano and or cream cheese.

So the kids are not allowed to watch the game? What kind of parent are you :p
They are 6 and 10 and despite my attempts, their interest in the sport is still fairly low. Thus all they would do is ruin it for me 😂

In no way would the selection of McDonald over Reid have made a difference to the loss. But he would have been able to work harder than Reid's body allowed him to. I'm talking more about the messages it sends to the young players about a coach preferring & trusting an injured player over the fit young player's ability.
More a dig at selection I guess.
Didn't like it when Marsh was left out for an 18 year old Mills who hadn't played for 5 weeks with a Hammy in 2016 & didn't like it last year.

Yep. Longmire has a history of playing injured players in the Grand Final and it never works.

Quietly i think Geelong were in hysterics when Reid was named.

I can understand where you’re coming from but even in hindsight it’s almost certain that McDonald would have been overawed by the occasion. Our best chance of winning was Reid coming good, such as his importance to our structure (demonstrated by the Pies almost pinching the game after he went down).

Horse probably figured the same, that Reid may have demonstrated enough pregame that he would contribute more than McDonald. We will never know.

I’ve looked back at that Mills selection and even in hindsight I am still not convinced it was the wrong one. We lost that game for a number of reasons but Mills (and McVeighs) inclusions were not high on the list for mine.

It's funny, playing injured players in grand finals only ever seems to come up when the team loses.

When the "master of all coaches" played Cyril Rioli in the 2014 GF despite missing 10 games and having no match fitness under his belt, was it a mistake? Possibly. But we'll never know, because everyone else showed up how they were supposed to, and rendered Rioli's non-impact that day - 9 disposals, scoreless - completely irrelevant to the history books.

Clarkson might've had grand final success before (as Horse did), but he made the cardinal sin that loses teams grand finals. Ban him from GF match selection committees!

FWIW: Best thing that happened to Logan was not taking part in that debacle.

Normally I'd tip against a grand finalist playing a bogey team (4 of the last 6) away in round 1. But I'd like to think after six months of stewing and creating an accommodation shortage by having trained down so much of the national housing stock that we will come out firing.

Thinking of Rd 1 2015 against Essendon. Heeney's first game when he kicked that awesome match-sealer in the last minutes.

Not that I've any experience in the matter, but I've heard it said that in any given GF both teams are often playing at least a few and sometimes more than a few players who for any regular season game would be classified as injured.

That wouldn't surprise me in the least. Even in the regular season, you hear coaches say "(insert name) has been playing with a (insert injury) the last few weeks."

No one ever cares as it's netting them wins along the way.

What ever happened to giving the game time as per local time eh Ticky009

Why not include those poor supporters in Ade and Perth.

No time zone discriminate!
Boredom is a terrible thing..
