The AFL draft isn't like the NFL draft. There is no need for it to be split over two nights; that it does so is so stupid.

First step - cut the timer from 5 minutes to 3 minutes

Zero reason teams need 5 minutes to "decide" on the player they've already decided to pick

Intrigued to see how we'll work out a deal with the Suns to get up the order to pick up that ruck from SA folks think we're interested in. Thinking a first round pick for a tracksuit from Cotton On and a couple of pies from Routley's bakery should just about do the trick.

Throw in a Used Ford KA. Those cars are future classics.

Lucky Dew was sacked or Routley's would be going out of business

The first round is already out to pick 25. Still lots to happen tonight.

I would go further and drop it to 2 mins or even less ... No one can tell me these professional paid people don't have a list of at least 10 they want at each pick.

So 42 might end up around 40 I reckon... Probably will be a slider around there, and then get a few mature blokes and some speculatives... keep picks for next year

Hotton is gone in the range i said he would be. By gee Richmond have taken risks with their first 3 picks. I would have gone Murphy Reid if I was them.

Be interesting to see if we still trade in now hotton is gone.

I'd go 2 minutes for the top 10 as there's generally not too many surprises or live pick swaps between clubs

I reckon picks 10 to 40 is when you start to see a few more surprises with a player being selected a bit earlier than planned, a pick swap not necessarily initiated by the team with that pick etc, and so the 3 minutes can be needed as that most wanted player is suddenly off the list & the debate may be between 2 or 3 depending on needs type thing - but no way they need 5 minutes

I'd also like to see them cut out the reset if a team bids on a player & the bid is accepted - give them 60 seconds to advise of the player they want because no doubt they already know that as it's not a surprise when a team matches a bid. On the same topic, teams surely don't need 5 minutes to decide if they want to match or not, no more than 2 minutes to match
