Also, clubs will be looking to trade for that glut of talls around our pick. Richmond surely go Dodson and Dogs don't need another KPF.

If anyone wants to give up a F1st, it'll be for our second rounder.

Who is everyone rating as next 3-5 best talents?

Speculation on WCE board is that Richmond need a ruck (Dodson) and Bulldogs would take Moraes?
The more I read on Moraes the more I feel he would be perfect fit for West Coast but alot of people are calling for Shannahan as he's too good to pass?

And I know enough based on what we've already done to know that we traded out 11 because we didn't want our first selection to be in the late 20's despite knowing it was a deep draft.

I think its more the fact they could of done this deal in trade period and gotten a much better pick.
elite trade from tigers, no value at all from north but if that was the player they wanted good on them I guess.
they've put alot of pressure on him now too and he is certainly a player that needs time to develop physically

North tried to trade their f1 in trade period there were no sellers. Richmond were always the one it was just at what range would they sell, all picks to 18 were off limits and the 20 which became 23 Armstrong was there.

According to your logic, if someone thinks we'll do a North it means they know what a club thinks but if they don't then they don't know. Give it a rest.

The value of each pick changes as the night progresses.

Our value of pick 28 could be completely different to what it was when that trade was made. It only takes one player falling that they didn’t expect to do that.

I know they have all the picks, but Richmond have managed to draft the top ranked and best credentialled attacking Mid/forward, inside mid, tall defender and tall forward of the draft so far, plus X factor in Hotton who would have gone higher but for his knee.

Wow.

To be more accurate best mid/forward/inside mid that was available.

Are they though? Their best 22 is comfortably the worst in the competition. It won't be the most ideal environment for young players to develop. Just look at the young guys at Melbourne 15 years ago and their lack of development.

Do feel your recent drafting has been poor and not discussed as the academy players have been guns

Tbf the recruiting issue is overblown . There was only 2 players from the gf side that had been Brought in from other clubs.

The rest were drafted by the swans . The recruiting has been exceptional as a whole

there's no incentive really. May as well just back your guy in, and get around him and let him feel warm and fuzzy than to bid on a guy that you're not going to get.

All clubs have access to it (in theory. GCS/GWS will soon) and its a lottery. STFU about it.

As a Geelong fan, I wouldn't be even talking about father/sons. Yes, it's a lottery. And flags shouldn't be won based off pure luck. Some clubs have had bottom 4 lists that have been top 4 due to the F/S rules and good luck. Dogs and Pies for example. It's a complete joke.

Matt Burgan was better at the Phantom Drafts because he was pretty accurate but he did it much earlier than Twomey. Twomey just waits until literally a day before the draft when some clubs have already told their player that they're taking them before releasing it. At that point, we may as well wait for the draft. Calling player managers and saying 'have any clubs given indications that they're going to take this player/that player? etc.' 2 days before the draft is something anyone can do.

Give us a phantom draft 2 weeks before the draft and leave it.

So what will people offer for our pick 28? I assume its gettable. Can see Geelong wanting it, but surely other teams can offer way more.

This is why I said a few days ago that people were absolutely kidding themselves thinking that Geelong’s future first could get them a pick as high as the late teens.

North’s future first only got them 27 and a pick that will be around the same mark next year.

Essendon have probably been trying to trade back in for the last dozen or more picks and even they haven’t been able to.

Saints possibly the same.

So you’ve essentially paid your future first (almost certainly a top 4 pick in the open draft, if this year is anything to go by (with Dees finishing 5th bottom, with 11 wins and 98%), for Daniel and pick 25ish.

Excruciatingly bad business. Astonishingly bad.

I can confidently say that my tiggies won the draft easily. We got 3 top line mids, 2 top line forwards and gun defender plus I am pretty sure we'll get the best Ruckman tomorrow Alex Dodson.

After the trade they did, I won't be surprised if they'll be applying for PPs they need to trade tomorrow morning to Richmond for their 2nd rounder.
