If Murphy Reid did slide, what would be the reason? He looks like a top 10 this year and maybe a top 5 in some other years.
Part of the reason is his shorter height (181cm) for a mid and his lightly built frame, combined with his lack of explosive speed. The question I suppose will be if his undoubted skills, make up for these limitations at AFL level.

There was also a key game in which he was dominating stats in the first half and then the oppo threw Oliver Hannaford onto him to shut him down. Hannaford monstered him physically and took him right out of the game, I think a few recruiters went OK what do we make of this.

For us he will probably start as a small forward, so it may be less of an issue.

SEN's final phantom draft now has Reid going to Port.

They have the Saints taking Armstrong but that won't happen. They are looking for mids with their picks if you believe what is coming out their club.
I'd be stoked if Reid came to us, so I hope it's on the money.

What has changed with Shanahan for him to suddenly move up the draft board?

I’d say because the media have gone from guess work to finding out some info

Allan will go earlier and Hotton will go to West Coast. So Armstrong would fall past our pick if we take Reid.

Order of preference for ports first pick.
1. Bo Allan (unlikely with either saints or dees to nab him)
2. Harry Armstrong
3. Jobe Shanahan
4. Murphy Reid
5. Joe Berry
6. Some left thinking
7. A draft bolter

Unknown variable
- A big slider depending on how the top 10 shapes up.

Hopefully Reid has a basketball background and we can hear about it for 15 years
Have watched none of the draft highlights of anyone, but just had a quick look at Reid's. To be fair, he moves a lot like a mix of Pendles and R Gray. On the small side, but hits targets nicely. From my limited knowledge of anyone in the draft he looks decent

Fox Footy's late late mail suggests Richmond might not take a tall at 10 or 11 but go for a Reid or Hotton, which would leave Shanahan and Armstrong for Port to choose from. Richmond anticipating one of the talls gets to their next pick.

Shanahan has to be picked over Armstrong.

Shanahan played Bombers VFL and kicked 12 goals in 3 games. He is AFL ready.
