AFL isnt as big in Sydney , as it is the southern states. If you add in inclement weather, it may have deterred a few off.

Traffic , weather more than any other city in Aus- its a tough sell to the people of western Sydney to get to a game in SCG. When I lived in Sydney, had mates that lived in western Sydney- that would venture to the CBD around 4-5 times a year.

Do believe there is a hate relationship between Western Sydney v North/East/Central.......you probably see it more in NRL and the A-League more than the AFL. Will take time to build It I guess. Do find alot of the barbs thrown pre-game, as a bit of a push to try to get 'publicity'.
