You can't compare the 2 mate. Sorry, Cripps has the runs on the board. Nick will get there perhaps in the next couple of years but until then , he can't be labelled the best in comp

He’s just salty Cripps blew right past Pendlebury and Buckley in the GOAT rankings with his second Brownlow.

I actually rate Martin's Finals series in 2019 very highly - 12 goals from 3 games. Averaged 19.3 possessions and 4 goals per game.
As do I.

Martin's 2019 finals series elevated him from about the 40th best player in the competition that year (AA Squad, 6th in Richmond's Best and Fairest), to a circa top 10 player for the year.

And yet Finals football, despite the short window/timeframe which is one month... is when it truly matters most. Home & Away football is when a Premiership is set up for a team to win, however Finals football is when a team wins Premierships.
Oh well.

Why do we even award medals for performances across the home and away season?

You're suggesting all those games should be completely disregarded and we only award premiership medals, a Gary Ayres Medal, and a Norm Smith Medal?

Daics has averaged more per game played in the last 2 years than anyone, he's the best 👍
Strange argument when he hasn't actually won the prize.

Look I like the kid a lot, but some of you Pies fans make it harder and harder.

GAJ didn’t even kick more than 2 goals in a final (and goalless in the whole 2010 finals series) in that 07-10 period meanwhile Dusty kicks a bag of 6 and bags of 4s still having disposals in the mid 20s.

And this opposition talk is nonsense GAJ played against 07 port in the GF and only managed 19 and 1. The NS was there for the taking and he wasn’t good enough.

Many people's memory on this subject is jaded.

Gary Ablett used to get the same treatment that Daicos receives now, as in, criticised for a lot of cheap one-twos. It's quite ironic that you're responding to Fadge, who's a staunch supporter of little Nick, now is trying to glow up Ablett over Martin.

It's no point arguing with Dusty Haters. He's done a number on them, and they just can't grasp that he brought Ninthmond, a joke of the AFL, almost single handedly to three premierships, and also did it in three grand finals.

It no other sport would this even be a debate.

Could you imagine telling everyone that world and olympic record holder Usain Bolt, wasn't the fastest man on earth at the 2012 London Olympics because he qualified 8th fastest in first round, and third fastest in the semi-finals?

He just had 31 disposals in his last final. More than Nick has ever had in any final

Now do disposals per premierships....

No actually, do disposals per grand...

No, no, scrap that, disposals per preliminary finals played between Daicos and Cripps.

Astounding the 2024 Brownlow Medal thread has turn into yet another Martin appreciation thread by the Martin fanbois, in a year the man himself - where he was poised to leap ahead of other greats of the game for total Brownlow votes - polled a solitary vote...
