If you get an extra $7mil in distribution from the AFL, then you don't have any costs to get those $$.How is it that North make a small profit of only $53 mill in revenue, when a club like my own makes only a small and similar profit off over $78 mill in revenue.
It's actually a credit to them that they can run such an efficient operation. It also makes me question what some clubs are doing with their extra $20 mill or so annually.
The accountants do their best work the finalise the result to make it ‘sing’!How is it that North make a small profit of only $53 mill in revenue, when a club like my own makes only a small and similar profit off over $78 mill in revenue.

If you get an extra $7mil in distribution from the AFL, then you don't have any costs to get those $$.
So if you get an extra $10m from game day, corporates, merchandise etc you might only clear $4million from that revenue to spend on other things.
Have a look at your marketing and membership costs compared to North's. There is a big difference there. Your 2023 accounts say pokies + venue food and beverage sales brought in $14.8m and expenses were $11.8m. You also have the costs associated with running and maintaining 2 venues - North only has 1.Yeah I get the more revenue means more cost. I think the Essendon venues and pokies bring in 20 mill but cost 14 mill to run, I'm still surprised by the gap though and how much more we must be spending elsewhere, to run a similar sized organisation to the kangaroos.

"sub total" is pretty meaningless isn't it?
Is it total revenue excluding government grants, financial revenue and other miscellaneous?
That's the only thing it could be but it was also what they had against that item 12 months ago.
I suspect the payout might be larger than that
The Gold Coast Suns have reported a comprehensive profit of $5.918m for 2024 on revenue of $63.294m, and with total equity of 0.092m.
Grant Income 30.627m
Sponsorship/Supply rights 9.108m
Membership/Ticketing 9.008m

Other 6.461m
It should be noted that this includes 7.579m attributed to "derecognition of stadium lease obligation".Report to be uploaded shortly.
The Suns operated Carrara on behalf of the AFL. It appears the Suns have given up the management rights they had at Carrara, indicating the AFL now do this directly or theyve possibly been returned to Stadiums Queensland. Probably wont know for sure until the AFL report in March.Hence the 7.579m attributed to "derecognition of stadium lease obligation".
