Pretty happy with the Bulldogs drafting.
Best small defender in the draft- Harrison Oliver
Best Ruckman- Alex Dodson
Hayes is one of the better wing prospects.
Gross is a flat out competitor who will be a combative small forward who compliments weighman and west.
Faull probably was not a real list need but was the best tall forward in the Coates finals series and I have a feeling he will be ok. I also think, like his dad, Croft will end up as a tall defender. This balances their depth charts a little.
I pretty much gave up a future first for Dodson and Hayes which I thought was fair,
The bulldogs ruck depth is poor.
English- Darcy and Lobb who you would prefer to play elsewhere, Lachie smith.
Will Hayes reminds me of Shane edwards- speed, agility and X factor
I am fascinated where he goes in the real thing.
Probably a little later.
My only disappointment was I thought I might nab Hotton with my first selection and then grab Oliver and Dodson together.
But for injury I think hotton would be in the group with O’Sullivan, lalor and smith.

Carlton leave the draft happy, traded a lot to get to the tippy top of this draft, super pleased Finn O'Sullivan slipped through, a dynamic midfielder with forward ability, we think he's a plug and play footballer and will give us plenty of selection pressure early in the season.

We were unable to trade out of our 2nd round position (we tried 🙏) and an earlier than expected bid on Ben Camporeale did see us use that 2nd round selection to match, we were quick to match as we believe so much in Ben, a strong and capable midfielder who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

Post bid we had to bide our time until the 50s, with plenty of quality left on the board we were quick on the clock to snare Harry O'Farrell, bit of a swing man, we see his future in defense, we wanted to sure up that area of the ground, we believe our talls forward of the ball will have us contending for quite some time, we wanted another big boy behind the ball, we believe he has the attitude and resilience needed to succeed in an AFL environment.

Rhys Unwin is a player we're rapt fell to us late, a guy who doesn't play like his name suggests, he's a fighter and wants to win at all costs, forward smarts, evasiveness and clean hands at ground level is what makes us excited for his future.

We wrap our draft up with the other half of the Camporeale twins, Lucas Camporeale has pedigree of the highest order, like his brother he's a fighter and we can't wait to see what he can do in the Navy blue.

**** Carlton!

Pick 67 New
And we're done! Thanks for participating everyone. And before you ask RedmanWasHere no, we will not do a rookie draft or next year's first round.

Going through all of our selections, we've all used at least 2 selections.

Not sure Essendon will use 7 selections but I thought to try to cover some bases and give my last selection to a develop worthy type.

28 of the 67 names would move states in this mock.

The bunching together of players with a commonality is a smart idea and would help to alleviate alleged homesickness fears or concerns.

Brisbane's bunching of McCluggage and Berry in 2016 the biggest masterstroke of this drafting.

To everyone here, well done.

You did well.

To those who "took" players away from others, that's your luck.

Look forward to doing this in 2025.

When the 2027 edition comes around, I look forward to seeing how we work with Tassie's selection allocations.

2026 will be run as per normal.

Isaac Kako
Charlie West
Jacob Newton
Gabriel Stumpf
Zak Johnson
Ollie Warburton
Lucas Ravenhill

A good mix of talls, smalls and mediums.

My expectations would be to try and play Kako early while any of the middle 5 would be given chances to debut later in the season.

Ravenhill would be more of a 2026-27 go.

If there was to have been a rookie draft, I'd've sent Nguyen to the NGA pile FWIW.

Stoked with GWS hand. Pretty much a forward line make over in the coming years.

Daniels and Jones to the midfield. Hannaford, Hynes, Hotton in a rotational mid/forward roles alongside them.

Love Alger, was tempted to go early at the Hannaford spot. So strong over head and great at competing at ground level. Very strong for the guy who might be the youngest in the eventual draft.

Mckenzie to the Stringer spot or hopeful upgrade on Riccardi.

Collingwood write up.

Going into the draft I was really hoping to get 2 talls to sure up that part of the list with some aging guys in those spots.

Unfortunately there was a run on those a bit too early and given the state of picks already traded out the value was just to stay put and take the guys who slipped.

Really excited to bring in Hugh Boxshall, Tye Hourigan and Josh Dolan.

Boxshall is a nice value balanced contested mid which they need. Dolan is a good Mid/SF and the pies love being SF heavy. Both guys will be VFL projects.

Hourigan is the guy I’m most excited for. Mid sized sweeper and a good user. From that covid class just under the radar. Think he will play this year. Should allow Maynard to play smaller

Classic Dodorro draft only talls, smalls and HB flankers. 185 is almost a small in the modern afl

Decent talent but really uninspiring and doesn’t suit our list

Gold Coast summary:

The bid on Lombard was earlier than we would have liked, I was hoping for a couple of picks in the early to mid fifties but had to match. I'm not a big fan of the small forward crop at the Suns so Champion at pick 60 was definitely one I wanted. Ned Bowman was the best player left on the board IMO and will be a handy half forward, possibly moving up to a wing.

Fremantle summary:

As far as I'm concerned I got a top 10 level player at 17 in Travaglia. I would have taken him at pick 6 for Freo let alone 17, he's the perfect addition to their side off half back and maybe end up on a wing for them. Davis I see as a medium forward and I think he'll end up in the late first round as a high possession half forward so I couldn't pass him up. Lachie Jacques was quite simply the best player available at 57. Hell, if I'd gotten 35 I'd have been deciding between him and Jack Ough as to who I took there.

Gold Coast had a decent draft without being brilliant but given Freo finished with 17, 34 and 57 and I took players who were top 10, 20 and 35 prospects with those picks I honestly think I've knocked this out of the park.

Who were you gonna go at 17 if Travaglia wasn't there?

Hawthorn summary

Cody Anderson way too early a bid to match.
Hawthorn have Newcombe, worpel and Nash who are all tough inside types.
I am not convinced about Cody’s level of class.
Kayle Gerreyn has some X factor and could be above average if cards fall his way. If the hawks find a partner for cal dear they are going to be formidable. Mitch Lewis struggles to get on the park.
I am an unabashed Luke Kennedy fan. Not sure I have read one comment about him on our draft thread. I implore bombers fans to check him out. We could do much worse in November.
Nash king is a reliable hard working footballer. Probably doesn’t suit hawks needs but I would take him over Anderson anyway.
Ed, the man who wears a horrific chargers scarf :) took day- wicks who I hoped would be available.
Blokes I considered late were malofai- Forbes, riley bice, Isaiah winder, Asher eastham, Josh Murphy, Lennox Hoffman and Floyd burmiester.

St Kilda walk away happy with their four picks I think.

Langford and Reid are excellent midfielders and will play fairly early.

Moraes is a utility who can fill some holes while Sims is a tall project forward/ruck as coverage for Marshall.

Geelong did not enter the draft until late but managed to grab some guys who will suit their style.

Nichols is an interesting utility type.
Davidson as a mature ager who can play right away.
Took a flyer on the local kid with their last pick as a hard working midfielder.
