I think you've got FOS and SL too high in possessions, both should be 7's. Draper should be a 10 in separation from contest or FOS and SL should be 7's, Langford should be lower again. Draper is the best tackler of the lot, should be a 9. Lalor's endurance should probably be a 7. Also what alternative position could Harvey Langford play?
Half back, and kill it there too I reckon.

Not all players that lack pure burst speed are the same

Pendlebury is a prime example
Let's be real here Langford is far closer to Kennedy than he is Pendlebury. I'm no huge fan of FOS but he, Draper and Smith are undoubtedly better fits for our midfield than Langford is.

I get the love for Langford but he's not at all similar to what the list teams mentioned as being a priority for us on draft night.

Wasn't talking about Langford being tge perfect fit for us, just spitballing as to his quality as a player

Langford is not a good comparison to kennedy, not sure what your trying to achieve banging on about it?

Langford is a better mover laterally, has better spacial awareness and is a much better kick. Kennedy was more a bull at the gate, see ball get ball player. Unfortunately didn’t have the traits to become A grade midfielder, but was a loyal servant and depth.

If posters like what they see with a draftee and think they can add value, no need to get triggered by it. Let them have their view.

From all reports they don't see a big difference between players at 2 and 6. They'll still have access to that top group of mids. If they force North to use 2 on Tauru even a Jagga could get there. They want to cash in a couple of later picks for F1s. Sets their list up much better long term. Even if the deal was only 6+20 for 2. They could get an F1 for 20 so in reality it's 6+F1 vs 2.

I'm less of a sceptic of the media then others. When the whispers are this loud and this consistent (e.g. Lalor pick 1, Tauru to North) 9 times out of 10 they're right.
I still think the Tigers are a big chance of ending up with pick 2.
If I’m in the Tigers recruiting team I am quite happy to appear unfussed about trading up to pick 2, they are certainly better off not appearing desperate.

I feel like the Tigers and Melbourne are both boxing North in now... both are suggesting they may take him at 5 and 6. I think they know by boxing North in that everyone gets who they want.

And on a side note... I think people will totally get the Tauru decision at pick 2. Its overs, but it also makes so much sense for them. Its getting another mid that I think is the dumb decision for them. They love Tauru, so just go get your man and dont worry what others think/say
Why wouldn’t North just trade with us or Adelaide then?
They wouldn’t even have to ask for much, to me it’s a easy way to improve their draft hand

Blitzed how?
Speed?
2-way Running Capacity/Tank?
General Smarts and positioning?
They are all good things to have but do you think he could play there permanently?
General smarts and positioning mainly.

No idea if he could. We won't know until it's tried. I prefer him as a third tall up forward though. Options are aways nice to have.

Imagine Charlie's having a dirty day, Kemp takes his place and Charlie goes to the wing.

If you put a midfield of 4 Cripps together it would be a disaster. That's the case being made here.

If we had 4 Cripps in the midfield who were lobotimised, maybe.

But if we actually had 4 Cripps in the midfield who are like our Cripps they would all adapt their games like our Cripps has over his career and become complementary midfielders and we would win 10 premierships in a row.

Desire/Guts/Competitiveness is IMO more important than the other two of the trilogy of the assets of champions, Skill and Decision making/Game Smarts.

Players are not blocks of wood, categorised in one position forever, they are humans with desire and the ability to adapt.

Finally got around to watching maybe 20 hours of footage of the top prospects in this draft.

I understand why some posters aren't interested and he may not be the best fit for Carlton on the list but...

Langford is the safest pick in the draft to be a 200+ gamer and has earned the tag as my favourite prospect in the game.

He's got it where you can't teach it - in the brain. His footy IQ is off the charts. Makes the right play almost every time. His IQ gets him placessome would question is physical ability to do so.

I understand the comparison to Charlie Constable but I believe he's a vastly superior player. I think his multi positional ability puts him miles ahead.

But as I said, as much as I like him, he may not be the best fit for us. As injury plagued as his season was I still found a lot to like about FOS. Draper looks all class but feels like a higher risk prospect to me. Jaggq Smith has it between the ears as well and seemingly is a safe risk but may balso have higher untapped reward than some others.

But although he may not be the best fit for us - and therefore arguably not the right choice - I'm going to support Langford to have a stellar career. Some players just have next level IQ and I see it in him.

There is something about this guy that I just keep coming back too and saying could be the best of the group.

I'm exactly the same.
It's the volume of quality football. Marks the ball like vintage Fyfe.
The delivery into fwd 50.
Picture Curnow and Harry on the end of those. Wow.

These highlights packages are mint.

Sounds like Pars Defect can heal and doesn’t have to turn into a chronic issue if treated/managed early before too much damage. Not sure we should take the risk with it given our history. Still Jagga for mine. https://www.physioinq.com.au/blog/what-is-pars-interaticularis-defect

It’s already being reported as a chronic pars defect:

“Draper is in Melbourne for this week's Draft Combine, however, the 2023 South Australia MVP won't take part in testing due to a chronic pars defect in his back.”
