Do the ones that left to join other power conferences come back? It would be beneficial for both the schools and the conference if they do.
Stanford and Cal might. Big10 teams won't, not sure the Arizona schools will either.

Crazy how fast stuff moves at times and how slow it goes.

But also can't help but wonder why these moves fell over 14 months ago when Stanford, Cal and the 2 Arizona schools were still there and also as Washington and Oregon were undecided while the MW poaching was still a chance

There's a class divide.

No chance Cal (or UCLA when they were in the Pac) would ever have allowed Fresno State or San Diego State into the league (or San Jose State too)

The ill filling between the UC and Cal State systems and the superiority complex never would have allowed them into the league.

Plus the Cal schools as a group would have been embarrassed being academically associated with Boise State too. Yeah, we're miles behind them, but we also gave them a 100 year head start. We're one of the fastest growing schools in the country in many many metrics. If only Idaho could try and centralise everything. BS that law is at Idaho and Medicine is at Idaho State. Sure, we have one of the best Engineering schools in the country. But we need to at least get a medical school into Boise State. Boise is the fastest growing city in America of any reasonable size (or was it a very close second, I think Salt Lake City and Austin are in the same league) we need those facilities in the city.

These schedules need some work. Surely the idea should be to try and evenly match teams.

Absolutely nobody gets anything out of that game.
The small schools get a good payout. Many FCS schools need the payment to stay afloat.

But doubt you are getting much to play Sun Belt schools who don't really have much money

You reckon the payout was worth that humiliation?

Idk, just seems to happen too often and seems utterly pointless to me.

There is always the chance to win. Look at the App St/Michigan game. Or NDSU games.

If the choice is lose by 50 or fold the football program they will take the money and the loss.

I'm not a fan of the November cup cake games, but in September I get it. The FCS would have real issues with teams folding if not for these games. You don't see a beatdown like this often

This is all Kansas's fault if they don't win. Multiple guys had a chance to recover the fumble and didn't. UNLV penalty pushing them right back. Then on that play had the QB dead to rights at the line of scrimmage and he evaded them. It has been a horrible defensive stand from Kansas particularly since all UNLV seem to be doing is QB run.
