NFL 2024 NFL - Week 9

Remember when people were talking up Sam Darnold and Derek Carr as MVP candidates after 2 weeks?

Pepperidge farm remembers.
I remember idiots buying into Carr, but no Darnold were people really doing that

Flacco has been abysmal. That decision to throw long to Pittman in double coverage when there’s an open receiver for an easy first down was about as bad as it gets. Plus the horrible interception earlier in the quarter.

Richardson hasn’t been great, but might have eked out a win here.

Fkkn idiots passing on those late downs when you have Taylor heating up.
Wasn’t even on the field for those last 3 plays

tomorrow the NFL will surely flex the Colts/Jets out of SNF week 11.

CBS will protect KC/Bills, but Ravens/Steelers or 9ers/Seachickens, or even Bungles/Chargers would be better

Both teams have 6 wins and are historical rivals so you'd think this would be the pick.

Considering the NFC West are the kings of chaos this season and neither team might even be the best in the division, I wouldn't pick 9ers/Seahawls because you'd have no idea what that could be in 2 weeks

wont play against bad teams in the playoffs and cant hope for teams to beat themselves with drops or turnovers in playoffs.

I dont think the defense is an elite all time defense which you need if you want to run so much more then pass.

They are lucky they only play 1 more outdoor game the rest of the season.
Agree to disagree I guess!

7-1
Easily the best pts difference in the league
4-0 on the road, against decent opposition.

if not confident in them, hard to be confident in any team (which is also fair).

Darnold was 4th or 5th favourite as late as week 5 from memory.

He was playing well at the time, but come on... It's Sam ****ing Darnold. If you dropped money on him you deserve to lose it.

Backing anyone outside of Lamar and Allen is probably a mistake at this stage. I had a speculative punt on Love but I think that’s gone.

Can’t see Mahomes unless he lights it up in the second half of the season. Goff probably won’t win it even if Detroit finish with the best record. Anyone else has an issue either getting to a good enough record or simply getting to the numbers required.

To be fair Lamar was average last year compared to his previous MVP performance, and lit up a few key games at the end of the season.

I don't think you need flash numbers, a strong winning record and no disasters is almost good enough now.

Lamar Jackson: 2019 vs. 2023

Passing

2019: 66.1%, 3,127 yards, 7.8 ypa, 36 touchdowns, six interceptions, 113.3 passer rating
2023: 67.2%, 3,678 yards, 8.0 ypa, 24 touchdowns, seven interceptions, 102.7 passer rating

Rushing

2019: 176 carries, 1,206 yards, 6.9 ypc, seven touchdowns, nine fumbles
2023: 148 carries, 821 yards, 5.5 ypc, five touchdowns, 11 fumbles

Clutch

2019: Two game-winning drives, one fourth-quarter comeback
2023: One fourth-quarter comeback

PFF said during the week that Flacco hasn't been good at all, had just been in game scripts where he could rack up cheap passing yards mostly. Tonight showed they were correct.

Hard to believe the Colts offense looked better without Jonathan Taylor and Gardner Minshew QBing last year than it does now. I've been a Steichen backer but he needs to face some serious heat for this season.
